The Navy Yard 5K (and 1 Miler)

The Navy Yard 5K is a community-minded event, connecting runners, tenants, and organizations through fitness and fun. Involvement presents an ideal opportunity to raise awareness of your business or organization and to support the Navy Yard community.  It also provides a great team-building event for your organization as teammates can run, volunteer, or just cheer alongside their co-workers! 

This unique event will take place at lunchtime on Central Green at the Navy Yard. Whether you participate as a runner, walker, course volunteer, or as a spectator, we hope to see you there!  Beginning at 11:30, everyone is encouraged to visit the Health + Wellness Expo in Central Green, featuring Navy Yard tenants and other companies educating employees on all aspects of workplace health, wellness, nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle.  To date, we have confirmed AVE Living, URBN, Courtyard Marriott, Rothman Orthopaedics, Skechers, Yankee Line, and Vincera.  

This year, we will be offering a 5K and 1 Miler.  The event remains free for both and all participants will get Navy Yard 5K-branded swag.  It is all about fun and camaraderie! Plus it is the 25th Anniversary of the Navy Yard so we are making it an extra special party!

URBN has graciously agreed to sponsor chip timing for this year's 5K!  Timing will be provided by Road & Trail Events and will be achieved via the chip on your race bib.  Please be sure to wear your bib on the front of your body reading horizontally and do not remove the chip on the back.  Thanks URBN!

Courtyard Marriott will be sponsoring our course water stop and members of their Bridges from School to Work program will be volunteering at the water stop.  Marriott's Bridges from School to Work program is a non-profit initiative that connects young adults with disabilities to meaningful employment and we are encouraging the volunteers to engage with potential employers at the event as well.

Skechers is also a new partner this year and will be offering a demo of their new athletic line.  Be sure to stop by their booth and pick up a pair to try out.  All participants will be entered into a raffle to win a pair of Skechers as well, so stick around for the raffle drawing during the awards ceremony.

After the race, we’ll celebrate with awards, music, and refreshments!  And don't forget to bring your lunch money for that week's food trucks to fuel your post-race party.  Moocheeze Food Truck, TioAbi's Kitchen, and Victor's Pizza Truck will be there!

A few other things to note:

• The course is not officially measured so may not be an exact 5K (or mile)
• All registrants will be asked to join a team representing their corporate group.  If you don't see your team name listed, feel free to add it! This will allow your co-workers to join your company's team and help us keep track of all teams attending. There will be a special prize for the largest corporate team so spread the word!
• Bag check will also be available during the run so you can keep any items you might need post-race closeby.
