Join us for the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter Rescue Run on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the Lackawanna Heritage Trail in Scranton.

This event will include a 5K, 10K, and Fun Walk, giving runners, walkers, families, and animal lovers a chance to come together for a great cause.

All proceeds benefit Griffin Pond Animal Shelter and help provide food, medical care, shelter, and second chances for animals in need.

Whether you run solo, walk with friends, or form a team, your participation will make a difference for the dogs and cats of Griffin Pond.

Race day begins at 9:00 AM at the Olive Street Pavilion. Registration is $30 for the 5K, $35 for the 10K, and $30 for the Fun Walk.

What: 5k run, 10k run, 2 mile fun walk

When: Sunday, August 23, 2026 at 9 AM - Registration and packet pickup starting at 7:30 AM

Where: Lackawanna River Heritage Trail - Olive Street Trailhead

Cost: 5k - $30, 10k - $35, 2 mile fun walk - $30

Everyone who registers by August 16th will receive a free Rescue Run T-Shirt

Dogs are welcome, but we ask that you keep them on a leash and please be mindful of other participants.*

Awards:

There will be trophies for the top overall male and female in both the 5k and 10k runs, as well as medals for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place males and females in the below age groups for both the 5k and 10k runs.
