Description

Shine your tiaras, fluff your tutus, and lace up your sneakers!

The Joy Martz Memorial Group would like to cordially invite you to “Run, Roll, or Stroll Your Tiara Off” with us at East Snyder Park, in Selinsgrove, Pa on Sunday, November 7, 2021. The Tiara Trot for Joy, is a 5K and All-Abilities Roll & Stroll event to honor and remember Joy Melissa Martz, an individual with special needs, who passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2019. Joy found her own way to sparkle, shine and bring joy to others, and to honor her so will we!

The Tiara Trot for Joy is truly all about JOY...Spreading joy, finding joy, and running, rolling, or strolling whatever amount brings you joy!

Please join us in honoring Joy’s legacy by participating in this year’s Tiara Trot for Joy.

Funds raised will be donated to Eos Therapeutic Riding Center in Bloomsburg, PA.

Our Mission - Joy Martz Memorial

The Joy Martz Memorial’s mission is promoting access and opportunity for individuals with special needs, encouraging, and supporting the families and caregivers of the special needs community, and celebrating the life of Joy Martz.

Joy Martz passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2019. Joy was on the autism spectrum and was non-verbal her whole life. Joy lived just like her name suggests, she brought light and sparkle everywhere she went. She had a special ability to lift others up even though she couldn’t communicate with words. She didn’t see difficulty, she saw only opportunity; opportunity for wearing anything with feathers or sequins, anything that sparkled and glittered when she danced, and always the opportunity to hug someone. She made the most of her life because of her attitude. She smiled, she sparkled, she gave hugs, and she ate up all the dessert she could get her hands on. Joy’s legacy is her name. The Tiara Trot for Joy gives our participants a chance to have a positive experience by coming into close contact with the legacy of Joy’s sparkling approach to life.

Our Cause - Eos Therapeutic Riding Center

Riding therapy horses at Eos was one of Joy’s great loves; and lifted her spirits in much the same way that she lifted the spirits of others.

Eos Therapeutic Riding Center was established in 1992 to provide therapeutic horseback riding activities for mentally, physically, and emotionally challenged children and adults.

Nearly one-fifth of all Americans—more than 54 million men, women, and children— have a physical, sensory or intellectual disability. The ‘Tiara Trot for Joy,’ supports this special community of people and their caregivers and families.
