Amiot Viaduct 100 Miler for Racing For Recovery

Sat July 22 - Sun July 23 Susquehanna, PA 08847 US

Description

I have been running since I was 14; predominantly track and cross country in high school. Last year, I ran my first 50-miler on a whim to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). Now that I am out of high school, I am training for ultras. My father took me on my first run ever and was really the person who engrained the running lifestyle in me.

I have raised almost $8K for WWP the past two years. This year, I will run 100 miles in the "Viaduct Trail Ultramarathon" on July 22, 2023, in order to raise money for Racing For Recovery.

My Aunt died in 2016 due to alcohol withdrawal, among other things. I was very saddened by this, as I felt like there was nothing me or my family could have done. Exercise makes you feel good and possibly makes you want to come back for more, offering a positive alternative to drug use. I'm looking forward to running for Racing For Recovery, because I truly believe its mission to move addicts to exercise is incredibly important, and because I wish that my aunt could have had such an opportunity. She was a former high school cross country star, and she ran her first marathon at age 16. Who knows, maybe she would still be alive today had she kept running. I do this in her honor!
