Purple for a Purpose 5k Run/Walk

PURPLE FOR A PURPOSE

We need your help to race for a cure and run cancer out of town! Help us kick off Relay for Life’s PAINT THE TOWN PURPLE campaign and join us for the “Purple for a Purpose 5K Run/Walk” being held on April 25, 2020 starting at the North Warren Fire Hall! 

Each year, Relay “Paints the Town Purple” in an effort to bring awareness to the Relay for Life event which raises money to help fund various programs as well as raise money towards the ultimate goal of DEFEATING CANCER!  Some of the programs that funding supports include:

Look Good Feel Better Program – a free service provided to survivors who meet with a beauty care specialist and are pampered and supplied with an assortment of beauty products, shown how to maintain their skin, and taught how to wear hats and scarves to make them “look good and feel better!”
Road to Recovery – a free service provided the take survivors to and from appointments.
Hope Lodge – a free place to stay for survivors and their families during treatment
Free Wigs – provided by the American Cancer Society and our local cancer center
24/7/365 Hotline – a great resource for survivors, family members and caregivers where they can have questions answered and information provided to help them through this time

Registration for the race begins at 8:00 a.m. with the race starting promptly at 9:30 a.m.  The course for this race will start at the fire hall, take us through the Warren State Hospital Grounds, through the town of North Warren and end up back at the North Warren Fire Hall.

Cost is $25 per person if pre-registered by April 4 and will include a free t-shirt!  Registration after April 4 will be $30.   Kids 10 and under are free!  Bring those pups too – we will have bandanas and treats waiting for them as well as the Top Dog award for the first pup over the finish line!

Coffee for all will be provided by Tim Horton’s and water/snacks will be available for runners before and after the race.

Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each age category as follows:  0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and up.

Prizes donated from various businesses will be given to each first-place winner in each age category with the overall female and male winner each receiving a gift card from Therapeutic Massage of Warren for a one-hour massage (valued at $65) and a pair of PowerStep orthotics from Susz Podiatry (valued at $40).

And, to make it even more fun, there will be a prize for the “purpliest, purple person” there!  So, let your imagination kick in and show us whatcha got!
