Proceeds benefit: Luke Tynan Medical Fund
On July 3, 2017, the parents of Luke Tynan received the phone call that all parents fear…”Your son has suffered a serious injury.” During a seemingly innocent game with friends, Luke lost his balance and fell from a pier in Cambridge, MD. The fall fractured his C4, C5 and C6 vertebrae. Thankfully his friends were trained lifeguards and protected his spine while transporting him to a local hospital. Due to the severity of Luke’s injury he was air lifted to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He spent nearly 4 weeks in the Intensive Care Unit before being transferred to the Magee Rehabilitation Center in Philadelphia.
Since a young age, Luke has been an active and recognized member of the Bucks County community. He achieved the prestigious award of Eagle Scout and received the American Legion Award for Courage, Honor, Leadership and Patriotism. Prior to his accident, Luke was a competitive athlete in Langhorne Athletic Association baseball, was a member of the Neshaminy High School track & field and Penndel Wildcat Football teams. After graduating from Neshaminy High School in 2016, Luke pursued a career with the Glaziers Local Union 252.
His passion and tenacity has always inspired teammates and coaches alike. This same passion, tenacity and competitive spirit will be required and tested as Luke faces his next great challenge. When Luke was asked by his Magee Rehabilitation Psychologist, “So why are you here Luke?” His reply was, “I’m here to amaze people.” Shady Brook Farm is joining Luke’s family, friends and community in his recovery effort and can’t wait to be amazed. Proceeds from Shady Brook Farm’s Dashin’ thru the…Lights! will go to the Luke Tynan Medical Fund.
