THE COVID 19 MILE SOCIAL DISTANCE RUN: The Quaranteen Challenge!
How does it work?
Simple... Find a treadmill or course that complies with your local social distancing guidelines. Run any of the whole-mile distances in the 'teens' (from 13 through 19 miles) as often as you would like in the 30 days that the race is on. Record the details and send it in! The more you run, the more points you earn! If you complete each of the 7 distances, you earn The Quaranteen Challenge bonus. Results are based on points, not speed. Times will be used to break ties.
What are the rules?
- Appropriate social distancing is absolutely mandatory
- Run/walk/crawl
- You can submit a result for any, or some, or all of the 7 distances (13,14,15,16,17,18 and/or 19 miles)
- Multiple runs completed in a single day that add up to one of the 7 distances qualifies! If you break it up, please total it as a SINGLE result when you submit. (For example, if you run 7 miles in the morning, and another 7 in the evening, that should be submitted as one 14 mile run for that day.)
- You cannot claim more than one 'teen' run per day. (For example, if you run a marathon, you cannot claim two 13 mile runs. Totally fine to claim that as a 19 miler though.)
- Fractions of a mile should round DOWN to the nearest mile
- The course will be open from 12:01am ET on 4/11/2020 through 11:59pm ET on 5/11/2020
- Cough into your elbow
- Honor system is in effect. If you are mature enough to handle working from home, you can handle this.

How do I submit my results?
When you are all done with the challenge, simply copy and paste the table below into your email program, fill it in with the info for all of your runs, and send to covid19miler@gmail.com. Please include all of your runs in a single submission at the end. You do not need to send in your results after each run.
Do I need to send in Strava screenshots, or pictures of my watch as proof?
If we can count on each other to sing 'Happy Birthday' twice when we wash our hands, I think we should be able to trust each other with this! If you would like to include supplemental GPS app screenshots with your results, that is absolutely fine. But I only really want to know which distance, how many times you ran it, dates and times. So, please use this table, and please try to submit all your stuff in one email. Thank you!
