Fundraising Tools

We ask that all riders try to raise a minimum of $250 to help get to our collective goal of $200,000 which will benefit twelve public schools in Oakland and Alameda.

HOW TO SET UP YOUR FUNDRAISING PAGE 
The best time to set up your fundraising page was a week ago, but the next best time is right now!  Follow these simple steps to get started.

STEP 1 - Visit your RunSignup profile by signing in here - click the circle in the top right corner. 

STEP 2 - Click My Registered Races

STEP 3 - Click Manage next to the registration to Manage

STEP 4 - Click Fundraiser in the left-hand sidebar to begin editing your page! There is sample text written for you, please personalize it to make it your own! 

STEP 5 - Invite everyone you know to donate!  Here's a sample letter: 

Dear friends and family;

On April 20th, I will be riding my bike to Sacramento with hundreds of other parents, teachers and middle & high school students to raise money and public awareness for Oakland public and Alameda public schools. Can you help? Click here to donate! (LINK TO YOUR FUNDRAISER)

Some riders will be starting in Oakland and riding the whole 109 miles to the steps of the Capitol.  Others will be starting in Fairfield or Vacaville and riding distances of 68 miles or 45 miles to Sacramento.  Our course winds through farm lands, the bike mecca of Davis, and the causeway to Sacramento.

This 16th Annual Ride for A Reason raises awareness for underfunded California public schools and specifically raises essential funds for critical programs at 12 public schools in Oakland and Alameda. More than half of the kids at these schools are low income and qualify for free or reduced price lunch, and at five of the schools, 90% of the kids are.  The funds raised support basic programs such as school libraries, art, music and sports, enrichment activities such as field trips and after school programs, and even ordinary school supplies needed by teachers. 

I need your help to reach my goal of raising $500 for Oakland kids.   Your donation is fully tax deductible through Claremont PTA tax ID number 94-6171801. The money you donate makes a significant difference by keeping kids engaged in and excited about going to school.

FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE! 

March Madness -- Lead the pack in the number of contributors (minimum $15 contribution) during the month of March and win 4 delightful osteopathy sessions at Nourish Osteo

The Big Challenge --   Raise the most money by April 15 and win a free night’s stay at the luxurious Claremont Hotel!

Gold Stars --  Raise $1000-or-more by April 13, and your bib number will be showered with gold stars!

Bib Numbers -- Place as a top-ten individual fundraiser by April 13, and receive a highly coveted, bib number 1 through 10.  It's a fun competition, and for an unknown reason, those #1-#10 bib numbers are just so much more aerodynamic! 

Just do what you can, and you'll be an all-star as far as we're concerned.  The goal is to raise $180,000 in pledges!  Working together we can do this!
