PARENTS, PLEASE READ - Safety Comes First Policy

Race Oro Valley (ROV) abides by the Safety Comes First policy established by USA Triathlon. Your child's safety will always be our our first priority.  Our events are fully supported by ROV staff and volunteers and are sanctioned by USA Triathlon and there are specific safety guidelines we must follow as part of the sanctioning process.

The entrances (off La Cholla and Lambert) WILL CLOSE TO ALL TRAFFIC at 0545, so do not arrive late.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST ENTER THE CHURCH GROUNDS OFF OF LA CHOLLA. Please park in the east side parking lot near the WELCOME arch of the Casas Church. Then walk through the courtyard to the playground on the west side.  Do not park anywhere else but east-side parking lot, or you will be blocking the course.

Also, all entrances (Lambert and La Cholla) WILL REMAIN CLOSED until the last child has cleared the bike course. This means if your 5-8 year old child is done, you'll have to wait until the older division is done with the bike course before you can exit the church parking lot. We anticipate all children will be off the bike course by 0715 and off the entire course no later than 0730.

Please arrive by 0530 to receive your bib number and timing chip.  The bikes will be racked in the grassy area near the playground, just west of the church.

The younger division (5-8 years old) will go first at 0600. Once they have cleared the course, we will start the older division (9-14 years old).

The courses will be coned with directional arrows. The Town of Oro Valley graciously swept the entires bike course for the kids this morning.

5-8 years old - PARENTS: This division is the only division you are allowed to run AND ride alongside your child. Your child will start with ONE clockwise-loop of the run course. Then your child will mount his/her bike and do TWO clockwise-loops on the bike course. Your child will finish with ONE clockwise-loop on the run course.

9-14 years old - PARENTS: You CAN RUN alongside your child, but you CANNOT RIDE with your child. Volunteers will be positioned along the course to watch the kids. Parents, you are are welcome to position yourself anywhere along the course to assist, encourage your child. Your child will start with TWO clockwise-loops on the run course. Your child will then mount his/her bike and do FOUR clockwise-loops on the bike course. Your child will finish with TWO clockwise-loops on the run.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email us. We want you and your child to feel as comfortable as possible on the course.

Sportsmanship

Sportsmanship applies to the participants, parents, friends and spectators.

It means treating your co-racer with respect, following the rules of the sport, respecting the race officials/volunteers, and simply have a good attitude on race day.

Volunteer Crew

Volunteers are stationed throughout the entire race course and are there to ensure that the kids have fun in a Safety-Comes-First evironment.  Please respect their guidance and don’t hesitate to ask for their assistance.  Please considering Volunteering. On Your Left Fitness and Timing has graciously agreed to provide a FREE entry into one of its 2017 adult events to anyone who volunteers at an ROV Youth Event for at least 4 hours.  Please email trioyl@me.com if you wish to take part in this program.
