RattleSnakeRun 2024

Sun May 5, 2024 Amenia, NY 12501 US

Race Day Information

1. Depending on what you signed up for, the event starts in three different locations, and at different times:

a-In downtown Millerton, where the rail trail meets Main Street. Run starts at 10.30 AM.

b-At the Coleman Station Road parking lot, where the rail trail meets Coleman Station Road. Run starts at 11 AM.

c-At the Amenia Station Parking lot, where the rail trail meets Mechanic Street at 11.30 AM.

2.  Run ends in Wassaic, near Maxon Mills, at the end of the rail trail.

3. Safety is key. Cars have the right of way on roads, so stop and look for cars before crossing at all intersections.

4.  You are responsible for finding parking. There is parking available near the Pawling Corporation (Borden Lane and Nelson Road) and in front of the Lantern. If you parked your car at a starting point, you are responsible for finding a way back up. Ask at the finish line if others can offer a ride, or even better, plan ahead! We strongly recommend you to get dropped off at the starting lines, and to have your car parked in Wassaic if possible.

5. Furnace Bank Road will be closed between 12.00 PM and 2.00 PM. You can still access Wassaic via Nelson Hill Road, and Old Route 22.

6. There will be 2 aid stations along the course, at Coleman Station and Amenia Station. All stations will have first aid kits, water, bananas and Porta Potties. See map below for locations:

7. We can always use more volunteers! If your friends and families want to help hand out water or keep runners safe at crossings, please let us know: email our Volunteer Coordinator at J.Elliot.Miller@gmail.com

8. Art activities for kids will be available from 11.00 am to 1.00 PM at the Wassaic Project, by the finish line. There will be an educator working on run-related projects such as banners-making and medals-making. Please plan on being there with your child, this is not a drop-off event.

9.  At the finish we will have music. Vitsky bakery will be open all morning and the Lantern will be open from noon on, so you can replenish with food and drinks there.

10.  Bathrooms are available at the Lantern.

11. We don't give out merch, in an effort to keep our environmental footprint to a minimum, BUT artist Eve Biddle will be there stamping snakes she designed on whatever fabric you bring her: T-shirt, shorts, jean jacket…

12.None of this would have been possible without our sponsors. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the Wassaic Project and the Lantern, Jack's Auto Service, Silo Ridge and Four Brothers. Thank you to the towns of Northeast and Amenia, as well as the Webutuck High school for support and help!
