Located in Oncor right-of-way between Forest Lane and Royal, the trail begins at Valley Dale near Central Expressway on the east and ends at Preston Road on the west.

Hempstead Lake State Park is a great spot for running, with scenic trails around the namesake lake and three ponds. The park is located at the eastern edge of Long Island in West Hempstead just off the Southern State Parkway.

This is a Fun Run, or you may walk if you choose, you'll not only be benefiting yourself but you can benefit The COMMIT Foundation as well. 5K Participants will receive a racing bib, finisher medal, & T-shirt (if registered before 9/2/26). 

PACKET-PICK UP INFO:
Race Day: 8am at Mount Trashmore 310 Edwin Drive. Virginia Beach, VA
You will receive detailed pick up instructions via email 2 weeks prior. 
Please Note:
If you are picking up race numbers for others, you must have your ID. 
You may pick up a family member's race packet as long as you have the same last name and you have your ID.

Route Overview: The Rapids Bridge 5K
This out-and-back route is used by local running organizations for timed 5K events. It tracks directly alongside Rock Creek on a smooth asphalt surface. 
Start/Finish Line: The crosswalk at Picnic Grove 24 (near Morrow Drive NW).
The Course: Head north along Beach Drive NW, running underneath the shade of the park's dense tree canopy. You will pass historic stone bridges and water rapids along the creek. 
Turnaround Point: Continue north until you hit the designated turnaround area just before Picnic Grove 4, then head back south along the exact same path.

Parking & Logistics
Where to Park: You can find dedicated vehicle parking directly at the Rapids Bridge Parking Lot on Beach Drive, or use the parking spaces near Picnic Grove 24.
Bathrooms/Water: Public restrooms and water stations are available nearby at Picnic Grove #10 along Beach Drive
