In consideration of my entry in The Improve Every Day Half Marathon (the "Event"), I, the participant, intending to be legally bound, waive and forever release all rights and claims for damages or injuries that I may have against the Event Director, [LLC name], RunSignup.com, the City of San Diego, its elected officials, representatives, employees, and agents, and all of their agents assisting with the event, sponsors and their representatives, volunteers, and employees (together, the "Released Parties") for any and all injuries to me or my personal property. This release includes all injuries and damages suffered by me before, during, or after the Event, and includes claims arising from the negligence of the Released Parties. I understand and intend that this release is binding on my heirs, executors, administrators, and assignees.

I know that running a half marathon is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter or run unless I am medically able to do so and properly trained. I assume all risks associated with participating in this Event, including but not limited to falls, contact with other participants, the effects of weather and heat, vehicles and traffic, uneven surfaces, wildlife, and course conditions, and I waive any and all claims based on those and other risks typically found in a road race. I acknowledge that all such risks are known and understood by me.

I understand that this Event is self-timed and uses a Strava segment rather than an official timing company. I am responsible for my own pacing, hydration, nutrition, safety, and the use of any app, device, or account needed to record my result. I agree to abide by all decisions of any Event official relative to my ability to safely complete the run.

I certify that I am physically fit and sufficiently trained to complete this Event, and that I have consulted a physician if I have any concern about my ability to participate safely.

In the event of an illness, injury, or medical emergency during the Event, I authorize the Event Director to secure from any accredited hospital, clinic, or physician any treatment deemed necessary for my immediate care. I agree that I am fully responsible for payment of all medical services and treatment rendered to me, including medical transport, medications, treatment, and hospitalization.

I understand that participating in a group event involves a risk of exposure to communicable diseases, and I assume that risk.

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claims, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from my participation in the Event or my breach of this agreement.

I grant permission to the Released Parties to use my name, voice, and image in any photographs, motion pictures, results, publications, or other print, video, or electronic recording of this Event for legitimate purposes.

All entry fees are non-refundable. The Event Director reserves the right to postpone or cancel the Event due to circumstances beyond our control, such as a natural disaster or emergency, or as required to protect the safety of participants and staff. No refunds will be issued under these circumstances. The Event Director reserves the right to change the details of the Event without prior notice. Bib numbers are non-transferable.

I understand that my participation is voluntary, that I have had the opportunity to read this agreement and ask questions, and that I am signing it of my own free will. If any part of this agreement is found to be unenforceable, the remaining parts stay in effect. This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of California.

If I am registering a participant under 18, I am their parent or legal guardian, I have authority to sign for them, and I agree to this release on their behalf.
