By indicating acceptance of this waiver, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree to the following:
In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Stars & Stripes 5K and related activities (the “Event”), I, for myself and for anyone entitled to act on my behalf, hereby waive, release, and forever discharge any and all claims, liabilities, demands, damages, causes of action, or rights of action, whether known or unknown, that I may have against Centro San Antonio, iRun Texas, Split Second Events LLC, RunSignup, the City of San Antonio, event sponsors, vendors, exhibitors, contractors, volunteers, race officials, public safety agencies, property owners, affiliated organizations, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, representatives, successors, and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”), arising out of or related to my participation in the Event, including but not limited to personal injury, illness, death, property damage, or economic loss, whether caused by negligence or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
I understand that participating in a road race and public event is a potentially hazardous activity and involves inherent risks, including but not limited to: falls; contact with other participants, spectators, vehicles, bicycles, or fixed objects; negligent or wanton acts of other participants; effects of weather including heat and humidity; traffic; road and surface conditions; equipment failure; crowd conditions; acts of terrorism; communicable diseases; and other risks associated with participation in athletic events and large public gatherings. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of the Released Parties.
I certify that I am physically fit, sufficiently trained, and medically able to participate in this Event. I agree to comply with all Event rules, instructions, and decisions of race officials, medical personnel, law enforcement, and event staff. I understand that race officials reserve the right to remove any participant from the Event for safety reasons or failure to comply with Event rules.
In the event of an accident, illness, injury, or medical emergency, I authorize Event officials and medical personnel to obtain medical treatment for me as deemed necessary. I understand and agree that I am solely responsible for any and all medical expenses incurred as a result of my participation in the Event, including transportation, hospitalization, physician services, and medications.
I acknowledge that participation may involve exposure to communicable illnesses, including but not limited to COVID-19. I voluntarily assume all risks related to such exposure and agree to comply with all applicable public health guidance and Event safety protocols in effect at the time of the Event.
I grant permission to the Released Parties to use my name, voice, photograph, video image, likeness, race results, and biographical information in any broadcast, photograph, video, publication, social media content, marketing material, or other record of this Event for any legitimate promotional or commercial purpose without compensation or further permission.
I understand and agree that all entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. The Event may be postponed, modified, or canceled due to weather, emergency conditions, governmental orders, public safety concerns, force majeure events, or circumstances beyond the control of the Event organizers. No refunds will be provided under such circumstances. Event organizers reserve the right to modify the course, schedule, venue, race details, or participant limits at any time without prior notice.
I understand that bib numbers and race entries may not be sold, transferred, exchanged, or given to another person. Unauthorized transfers may result in disqualification and removal from the Event.
If I am registering a minor under the age of 18, I certify that I am the parent or legal guardian of that minor and agree to this waiver and release on the minor’s behalf.
By completing my registration and participating in the Event, I acknowledge that I have carefully read this waiver and release, fully understand its contents, and voluntarily agree to its terms.
