Renee's Run 5k

June 27, 2026
Ellwood City, PA 16117 US

About the Event

Renee’s Run was created to celebrate the life of our dear friend, teammate, and Riverside baseball family member, Renee Giles.

Renee was a constant presence at Bradshaw Park and within the Riverside Baseball Federation community. She spent countless hours volunteering, cheering on the kids, supporting families, and helping make the baseball experience special for everyone around her. Whether it was running the snack shack, organizing events, encouraging players from the sidelines, or helping create memorable All-Star seasons with unique uniforms, gear, and team experiences, Renee always believed in going the extra mile to make the game fun and meaningful for the kids.

Renee passed away after a courageous battle with uterine sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of uterine cancer. While her loss left a tremendous hole in our community, Renee’s Run was created as a way to keep her spirit alive while supporting causes that reflect what she cared about most.

Each year our community gathers to run, walk, and celebrate Renee’s life while raising funds that continue her legacy within the Riverside baseball community.

Why June

Renee’s Run takes place in June, which is Uterine Cancer Awareness Month.

Throughout the month of June, we share stories about Renee so members of our community can learn more about the incredible person she was. We also share information about uterine sarcoma, helping raise awareness about this rare cancer and the importance of advocacy and education.

June also includes National Pineapple Day, which holds special meaning for Renee’s family and friends because Renee loved pineapples. The pineapple has become a small but meaningful symbol of this event and a reminder of Renee’s vibrant personality and joyful spirit.

Race Beneficiary

Proceeds from Renee’s Run support the Renee Giles Riverside Baseball Legacy Scholarship & Experience Fund through the Riverside Baseball Federation.

This fund honors Renee’s love for the game and the community she supported by funding two important initiatives:

The Renee Giles Riverside Baseball Legacy Scholarship

Awarded annually to a Riverside High School senior who participated in Riverside Baseball and demonstrates leadership, sportsmanship, and a commitment to the baseball community.

The Renee Giles Baseball Experience Fund

Supports special initiatives that enhance the experience of current Riverside baseball players. Renee loved creating unforgettable All-Star seasons for the kids, and this fund continues that tradition by helping provide special opportunities, gear, travel experiences, and improvements that benefit players at Bradshaw Park.
