Run New Tampa FAQs

1.    What is Run New Tampa 5k and 1 mile Fun Run/ Walk?
The 6th annual fundraising event sponsored by Hunter’s Green Elementary PTA to support Hunter’s Green Elementary. There will be a 5K Run chip timed and 1 mile Fun Run/Walk through the scenic neighborhood of Hunter’s Green.  This is the only 5k in the New Tampa area.

3.    What is the date and time of the Run New Tampa Race?
The race is on Saturday, February 10th, 2024 at 7:30am.  The 5K Run will start first and following this the 1 mile Fun Run/Walk will start approx 7:40am.   

4.    What is the location of the race?
The race start and finish line are at Hunter’s Green Elementary, 9202 Highland Oak Drive, Tampa, FL 33647.

5.    How do I register for the race?

6.    How much does it cost to register and what do we get?
The 5K Run includes a unisex shirt*, swag bag, finisher medal*, race photos and post-race snacks. 

Unisex shirts and sizes are guaranteed if preregistered before January 19, 2024. After this date, unisex shirts and sizes will be available wile supplies last. (Sorry but no unisex shirt exchanges until after the event based on availability)

The pricing is as follows for the 5K Race:
·      10/10/23 – 12/16/23 - $30 Adults, $20 Kids (11 and under)
·      12/17/23 – 01/26/24 - $35 Adults, $20 Kids (11 and under)
·      01/27/24 – 03/24/24 - $40 Adults, $25 Kids (11 and under)
·      Day of Race registration 5K - 02/10/24  - $45 Adults, $30 Kids (11 and under)

The 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk includes a t-shirt*, finisher medal*, swag bag and post- race snacks
The pricing is a follows for the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk:

·      10/10/23 – 01/26/24 - $15 (All Ages)
·      01/27/23 – 02/09/24 - $20 (All Ages)
·      Day of Race registration 1Mile – 02/10/24 - $25 (All Ages)

  • Children under the age of 5 are welcome to participate but will not receive any race benefits unless they register for the race. 
  • No animals, bikes of any type, or scooters are allowed. 
  • Online Registration for the race will close at 8:00 pm on Friday, February 9.
  • Race day registration will be 6:30 am - 7:15 am.

*THERE WILL BE RACE DAY REGISTRATION  * Please note: unisex shirt (and size) and medal cannot be guaranteed after 1/19/24

7.    Is the 5k race chipped and timed? How can I see my final race time?
Yes, FITniche Events - Race Timing company will be there with chipped bibs to record official times. Each participant will receive a QR code in their final race day email and they can download this to check your unofficial time on race day. Official results will be available after all runners have finished the race.  There will be a mid race check point that must be crossed for valid race results. 

8.    Are there other options besides the 5K distance?
Yes, there is a 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk, but it will not be chipped or timed.

9.    Will there be prizes for contestants?
Yes, each participant will receive a finisher medal and there will be prizes awarded by age group in the 5k Race for the first place winners.  A certificate will be awarded to the 2nd and 3rd place winners in each age group.  We will also give a prize to the overall winner male and female adult and the male and female 11 and under winner in the 5K and the Top 3 boys and girls ages 11 and under to finish the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk.  There will be a medal ceremony at the end of the race and if you are unable to pick-up your medal/prize/certificate at this time then these will be available at the Fleet Feet store located at 8604 Hunters Village Rd. across from Hunter's Green neighborhood from Monday, February 12 until Saturday, February 17. 

10. What day do I pick up my race packet and where?
Race registration packets can be picked up at our Drive Thru Packet Pickup on Friday, February 9 at Hunter’s Green Elementary School, 9202 Highland Oak Drive, Tampa, FL 33647 between the hours of 4:00-6:00 pm.

11. If I am not able to be at early race packet pickup how can I get my packet?
We highly recommend you pick up your race materials ahead of time to make sure there are no issues with your bib number, but if you are unable to then your items will be available between 6:30 am- 7:15 am day of the race. 

12. Will I be able to register the day of the race?
Yes, you will be able to register the morning of the race at 6:30 am - 7:15 am.  (Shirts might not be available).

13. Is there a map of the course?

14. Will the roads involved in the race route be closed during the race?
Yes, from 7:25am – 8:30am, the roads along the race route will be closed to ALL motor vehicle traffic.  All entrances to the communities along the route will also be closed.  The entrance on Cross Creek Blvd will be closed and the intersection of Hunter’s Green Blvd and Highland Oak Drive will be blocked during the race.  There will be Police present to control the traffic.

15. Where do I park for the race?
Parking for the race will be available at Hunter’s Green Elementary School (Cross Creek Blvd. Entrance) and overflow parking will be available at Benito Middle School on Cross Creek Blvd. 

16. Will there be restroom facilities available to the racers?
Yes, the restrooms at the school will be open for participants at the start of the race.  There will also be restrooms at the halfway point in the race in the community park. 

17. Will there be a water station along the course?
Yes, there will be a water station at the halfway point of the 5K on the course and following the race at the finish line.  If you need water before the race we encourage you to bring your own since there will not be any available before the race begins. (No on course water station for the 1-Mile event)

18. Can I participate Virtually? 
Yes, you can participate in our Run New Tampa event no matter where you live. Pricing is will be the same at the live event (See FAQ 6 above) and includes a shirt, bib and finisher medal. Shipping charges will apply and your race packet will be shipping out the week of the race, but is not guaranteed to arrive prior to February 10, 2024.  You can also pick up your virtual race packet at race packet pickup on February 9 from 4-6 pm at Hunter's Green Elementary. 

19. How do the shirt sizes run?
The shirt sizes are unisex and you can choose from adult sizes or youth sizes. 

20. I am not much of a runner, but I would still like to support this event. How can I help?
Thanks you for supporting the Hunter's Green Elementary PTA. You can just click the "DONATE" tab and you can donate any amount.  We are also in need of many volunteers for the event so please reach out to 5k@huntersgreenpta.com for more information.  

21. Are there any discounts for groups signing up for the race? 
Yes, if you have a group of 15 or more people that would like to sign up you are able to get a $5 discount for each participant until December 31st. (Exception: The race price will not go below $25 for the 5K adult, $20 youth, or $15 for the 1Mile).  Please contact 5K@huntergreen.pta.com and they can assist you before your group signs up.
