PE Grant Program
The best finish lines make a difference long after race day. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Loudoun County Public Schools to get more students moving, cheering, and crossing finish lines, and to put real dollars back into the PE programs that keep kids active all year long. To date, Run the Greenway has given $18,000 to LCPS physical education programs, funding new equipment the school budget couldn’t cover.
The $10,000 PE Grant Program
Run the Greenway has set aside $10,000 in grant funding for LCPS physical education departments. The idea is simple: the schools that show up the strongest on race day earn funding for their PE programs.
Here’s how it works:
🏃 Sign your school up. PE teachers register their school to take part in Run the Greenway.
👟 Rally your runners. Students and families should select your school from the drop down box during the registration process.
🏆 Bring the most participants. The four LCPS schools with the highest student participation share the $10,000 grant.
🎉 Level up your PE program. Grant funds go straight to the winning schools’ PE departments for new equipment, programs, and whatever helps their students get moving.
1st Place: $3,000
2nd Place: $2,500
3rd Place: $1,500
4th Place: $1,000
Bonus Contest
For the second year, we have an incentive; for every 10 students who register, your school will receive $100. For example, 50 students registered means $500 earned during the contest period.
A Partnership That Keeps Growing
Last year, 29 LCPS schools joined the fun, filling Loudoun Station with students, teachers, families, and some seriously loud cheering sections. We loved every minute of it, and we’re aiming even bigger this time around.
This partnership is about more than one race. It’s about showing students that fitness can be fun, that their community has their back, and that a Sunday morning run can turn into something their whole school is proud of.
To every PE teacher who has rallied students, handed out flyers, and shown up early on race day: thank you. You’re the reason this program works.

This year we’re throwing it back with a Running Through the Decades theme. Think disco flair, neon windbreakers, and ’90s throwbacks. It’s the perfect excuse for school spirit to go totally retro.
