What is a virtual race?
A virtual race has everything you love about community 5Ks without the early morning wake-ups, struggles to find parking, or massive crowds at the starting line. Sign up for either the 5K Run or 1 Mile Walk option, and then on race weekend (July 17-20), download your virtual race bib and complete your race distance whenever and wherever you want (even on a treadmill!) Of course, make sure to refer to the CDC's social distancing guidelines to stay safe and healthy during your race. After you complete your designated race distance, upload your time to our results page and see how you stack up against your friends, family, and longtime running rivals. Then share your accomplishment! Take a post-race selfie or post a picture of your unique race route with the hashtag #runformaslows and connect with other runners/walkers in Run for Maslow's virtual race community.
Who can participate?
Anyone and everyone! We encourage participants of all ages and fitness levels. 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk options give you flexibility to choose the right race for you, and prizes will be awarded both to the top 3 male/female finishers for each distance and randomly selected runners/walkers.
What do I receive with my registration?
All participants will receive a free printable virtual race bib and customized finisher's certificate. You'll also be entered into a raffle to win one of two $50 Athleta shopper cards, ten $15 gift cards provided by Tri-State Running Company, as well as a grand prize of a free pair of shoes! Finally, you'll know that you are making a contribution to an incredible Cincinnati organization during a time of great need.
How can I track my time and distance?
Run for Maslow's accepts results on the honor system, so you can track your run any way you like! A reliable way to track your run is to use a GPS watch or app. Below are some great options for free smartphone apps that let you track your time and distance:
You can also map out your route in advance with online services like MapMyRun.com, or even run/walk your race on a treadmill to track your time and distance.
How do I upload my time?
You will receive detailed instructions at the start of race weekend for how to manually upload your race time to our results page, and then you will have the opportunity to see how you rank compared to other runners/walkers!
How do I get my T-shirt?
The first 100 donors to make a donation of $15 or more are eligible to receive a free Run for Maslow's race T-shirt. If you qualify, you will be notified by email and will be able to pick up your shirt at one of Tri-State Running Company's two store locations in the week leading up to race weekend.
Where does my donation go?
100% of donations go directly to Maslow's Army, a 501(c)3 organization that focuses on outreach efforts to support people experiencing homelessness in Cincinnati. During the COVID-19 crisis, Maslow's Army has sheltered over 220 families and individuals experiencing homelessness in hotel rooms so that they have a safe place to follow social distancing guidelines.
