Description

Come join us for our annual Anderson Area YMCA Reindeer Run, Sponsored by Carson's Steak Warehouse. This year, we are providing two ways for you to participate. Join us in person on December 5th, 2020 for our 1 mile, 5k, or both. Or, participate anywhere, any way you want, from December 4th-6th in our virtual 1 mile and 5k options. Registration includes a festive long sleeve Reindeer Run shirt, and a coupon for a complimentary breakfast from Chick-Fil-A of Anderson, to be redeemed at any of their locations. 

Holiday headgear and attire is encouraged for this fun, family friendly race.

Pre-registration:

While everyone will get a shirt, to guarantee your shirt by race day, please register by November 15th, 2020 at 11:59pm. We will have shirts available for those who register prior to this time available at packet pick-up on December 4th. We will order shirts for any participants registered after November 15th on Monday, December 6th, and will contact you when your shirts are available. 

Packet pick up: 

Packet pick up is held at the Anderson Area YMCA's Community Room on Friday, December 4th from 12pm until 7pm, and then resume the following morning, December 6th, at 7am.

Elementary School Competition

The Anderson Area YMCA Reindeer Run is proud to offer a school competition between the schools in our local districts. $500 will be awarded to the school with the highest percentage of participation, and $500 will be awarded to the school with the highest number of participants. Number of participants is tracked by utilizing an individualized coupon code for each school, so make sure you refer to the information sent home by the school to get the coupon code and be tracked toward your school's total! 

Participants must be registered by November 15th at 11:59pm to be counted toward the competition!

Awards

Due to COVID-19, there will be no awards ceremony immediately following the races. Awards will be able to be picked up the week following the race, and awards will only be given to participants of the in person races. We will be giving out awards in the following categories: 

In person 1 Mile Awards: 

  • Overall male and female winners
  • Three deep in each category ages 19 and under

In person 5K Awards: 

  • Overall Open, Masters, and Grandmasters male and female winners
  • Three deep in each age category

 

How to Go Virtual

Participating in virtual events has become a new normal, and is a great option for those who are not local, or those who want to participate in a different format besides running! So, strap on those racing shoes, and get going…here’s your next steps!

  1. Register for the Reindeer Run (by November 15th if you want a t-shirt to race in!)
  2. Print out your bib, and attach it to you if possible (swimmers, you can write your number on your arm!)
  3. Get up, get out, and getting moving. Shake those quarantine blues and get your family out for a little friendly competition!
  4. Cross your finish line, and celebrate!
  5. Snap a picture, and share it using the hashtag #aayreindeerrun
  6. If you want, upload your results to runsignup.com, and see where you stack up!

The races will open on December 4th, and can be completed any time through December 6th. Registration and issuing of bibs will be completed through runsignup.com. Once you have completed your distance, you can also upload your results using runsignup.com, either through a web browser or text message. You can either sign up via text message/email to register your results, or visit the runsignup.com page and upload your results via the participant tracking tab.

Multi-Event Discounts are applied at the end of registration if you choose to participate in more than one race.
