Thank you for your patience, allowing the BTR Organizing Committee to work through all of the various options for the upcoming Beaufort Twilight Run (hosting a virtual race, rescheduling the event, cancellation, etc).
Like many of you, we were holding out hope that the event would have a chance to go on as planned. However, with the escalation of the coronavirus since last week, and especially with confirmed cases in Beaufort County as of yesterday, we have determined the only clear path forward is to cancel the 12th annual Beaufort Twilight Run scheduled for March 21st. We are heartbroken not to host this year’s event, but the safety of our community, school and race participants is our top priority.
If you are currently registered for this race, you will have received an email with information about donating to the school, requesting a refund, and picking up merchandise. Please follow the instructions given in the email so we can process your requests efficiently.
This premier lowcountry event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the last 11 years, which has directly supported the education of thousands of children, many of which are successfully launched into adulthood now.
“Riverview Charter School’s mission is to create a small, diverse learning community that actively engages students in meaningful and innovative learning experiences. Emphasizing ‘learning by doing,’ family and community involvement, and engaged citizenship, Riverview is committed to nurturing the whole child and preparing each student for a global society.”
It is with this mission statement in mind that the BTR Organizing Committee (Team Orange), in conjunction with the administrative staff of the school and board of directors, ask all participants, sponsors, and vendors to thoughtfully consider leaving your contribution with the school despite the event cancellation. The financial needs of the school have not changed and with an uncertain future in regards to the spring term of school, every dollar continues to count.
Again, we are so disappointed not to connect with each of you at next week’s event. Please know that we continue to be grateful for your support and we hope you and yours remain safe during these uncertain times. We look forward to seeing you for the 13th Annual Beaufort Twilight run on March 20, 2021!
