"Hearts on Fire Against Violence" 5K Walk/Run

It truly breaks our hearts to see so many people lose their lives to senseless acts of violence and when it hits “home” it is lurid. Currently South Carolina ranks second in the nation for the amount of homicides caused by criminal domestic violence (SC Attorney General’s Office, 2015). South Carolina is the seventh-deadliest state for gun homicide: There were 5 gun murders for every 100,000 people in the state in 2010, 39 percent higher than the national average of 3.6 gun murders per 100,000 people (Center for American Progress, 2015). We want to help prevent violence and let victims and family members of victims whom lost their lives to violence, know that we support them.
