*Update regarding COVID-19 social distancing requirements as they relate to this event*
The 6th Annual Building Healthy Communities 5K Run/Walk and Wellness Expo has been converted to a 6-week virtual fitness challenge. If you have already registered for the original event, you can transfer that registration to the virtual challenge and we will refund the difference. If you are unable to participate in the virtual fitness challenge, your registration will be refunded. Thank you so much for your understanding and support.
Sign up to complete weekly fitness challenges and join in the fight against childhood obesity. We also have a lot of exciting incentive prizes to be awarded by random drawing, so be ready to be fit and healthy. The Building Healthy Communities Virtual Fitness challenge will raise funds to benefit the Heart Health Program of MUSC’s Children’s Hospital while helping to promote health and wellness.
Your registration fee includes a t-shirt and other "swag" items. To be eligible for the weekly prize of a $25 gift card (one awarded each of the six weeks), you will need to complete and log each weekly fitness challenge (one challenge per week) no later than 11:59 pm of each Saturday throughout the six weeks. You may log extra bouts of exercise to be entered into additional drawings for a variety of prizes (minimum of 30 minutes or 2 miles). There will be a final prize of a $100 gift card awarded at the end of the six weeks, with only those who completed and logged all six weekly challenges eligible. All prize drawings will be by random drawing. Below are the six weekly challenges (one challenge per week to be done in one bout):

To be eligible for the Grand Prize drawing of a $100 gift card, you must complete and log all six challenges during their designated weeks. *If you miss the deadline to log your challenge exercise (11:59pm each Saturday), you will not be entered into that week’s prize drawing nor the Grand Prize drawing.
Week of 9/27-10/3: minimum 20 minutes or 1 mile
Week of 10/4-10/10: minimum 30 minutes or 2 miles
Week of 10/11-10/17: minimum 40 minutes or 3 miles

Additional prize drawings
In addition to the Weekly Prize drawing of a $25 gift card and the Grand Prize drawing of a $100 gift card, you may qualify to be entered into drawings for additional prizes. To be entered, you must complete and log bouts of exercise that are at least 30 minutes or 2 miles (mileage is only for running/walking) throughout the week in addition to the one weekly challenge exercise requirement. You will get one entry into the drawing for every bout of exercise you log during that week that meets the required minimum, so more exercise = more chances to win! Here is a list of the exciting prizes (and their approximate retail value) that you could choose from if your name is picked (more may be added throughout the six weeks):
*Prizes will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Each prize drawing winner will be able to choose from the prizes that remain at the time of the drawing.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What type of exercises are allowed for meeting the challenges?
Any exercise that meets the minimum time requirement is allowed, however the only exercise that can be used to meet the mileage requirement is running/walking.
2. How are the prizes awarded?
All prizes, including the weekly award, random incentive prizes and the final award will all be decided on through random drawing.
Weekly $25 gift card: all who complete and log the weekly challenge no later than 11:59 pm each Saturday are eligible for the six weekly prize give-aways.
Random incentive prizes: those who complete and log exercise in addition to the weekly challenges (must be a minimum of 30 minutes or 2 miles) no later than 11:59 pm each Saturday will be entered into separate drawings for a variety of prizes.

3. Do I have to meet the weekly challenge goals every day of the week? Can I accumulate the challenge goal through the course of the week?
Each week's challenge is a one-day challenge and should be completed in one bout. You may log additional bouts of exercise at any point throughout the week and if they meet the minimum of 30 minutes or 2 miles, you will be entered into the random weekly drawings for a variety of "extra" incentive prizes.
4. What if I miss a week or forget to log my exercise?
Only those who have logged their exercise on time (and only if that exercise meets the minimum requirement for a particular week) are eligible for the weekly $25 gift card. Yes, veterans and active members of the military can receive 10% off using the MILVET code. Thank you for your service.
7. Why are weeks 5 and 6 the same minimum time and distance requirement?
One of the overall goals of this challenges is to encourage a lifestyle of fitness and wellness for all.
