Finish Liza's Run - Charleston SC

On September 2, 2022, at 4:20 a.m., Eliza Fletcher was abducted and murdered in Memphis during her morning run. Eliza was a teacher, mother-of-two and businesswoman who started her day doing something she loved, going for a run. 

Our hearts are with Eliza Fletcher and her family. Women (and men) deserve to run without fear and at any time. Liza’s family is incredibly grateful for the continued love and support expressed across the country and for our run. 

On Friday, August 30th, we will be running in her memory to spread awareness. We will begin promptly at 4:20am. The meet up, start and finish will take place at Smythe Lake – the Blakeway St/Daniel Island Drive intersection. There is plenty of parking on both sides of the road. 

Please bring a running lamp and water to carry as you run. There will be signs offering direction along the route. Below is a map and description of the route. A few people have asked about a shorter circuit, described below. After the race, water and bananas/oranges/bagels will be available.

We welcome all runners/walkers, there is no cost, and you don't need to register to participate.

8.2 Mile Route

1. Head South to Smythe St, 

2. Turn Left on Pierce St, 

3. Turn Right on to Barfield St, 

4. Then Right onto trail in Barfield park (look for lighted gazebo), 

5. Follow trail over to Waterfront area, and we will get back on the street on Longshore St to River Landing Drive, 

6. North to Seven Farms Drive, then right

7. Follow Seven Farms Drive under 526 and right on Island Park Drive

8. Follow Island Park Drive to Delahow St

9. Turn around and follow Island Park Dr to the Refuel gas station, and turn right on Fairchild St

10. Follow Fairchild across River Landing into business park area

11. Stay on Fairchild across Daniel Island Dr and turn right on Beresford Creek St

12. Beresford Creek St circles back to Corn Planters St, turn Right

13. Right turn on Cape St.

14. Right Turn Etiwan Park St

15. Right Turn onto Seven Farms Drive

16. Left Turn onto trail at the traffic circle (look for a sign)

17. Follow trail and merge onto Blakeway St (look for a sign)

18. Take Blakeway St to finish line
