The Race
CAPES for Kids is an annual 5K|10K & Kids Fun Run, held in honor of a 3-year old Carver Elementary School student, who lost her life due to physical abuse and neglect in 2011.
Formerly known as the Carver C.A.P. Run, this event strives to honor her life, and the lives of children like her, while also raising awareness and support for victims of child abuse in our local community.
All proceeds support quality services at the CARE House of the Pee Dee for children who have been abused and their families.

The Cause
As a children’s advocacy center, CARE House of the Pee Dee’s mission is to promote help, hope, and healing in a nurturing environment to child abuse victims and their families, through supportive services and prevention.
The CARE House began in 2004 when Law Enforcement identified a need for a more effective and efficient facility to provide forensic services to victims of maltreatment.
A permanent location was found and renovations began shortly after. In October of 2006, the CARE House opened their doors for the first time at the new facility; we also obtained Non-profit status in December of the same year.
The first Board of Directors meeting was held in March of 2007. We officially obtained National Accreditation in September of 2009.
