The 262 Project

As 2023 comes to a close things are heating up for our Greenville Track Club-ELITE athletes. Since this past summer we have added 4 additional members to our men’s team. Some of you may have seen our posts on these young men and their accomplishments prior to joining our group. Suffice it to say, this is probably a team with the most potential from a performance standpoint since we started in 2012!

Most recently, as an example, our two senior members achieved the qualification standard (sub-2:18:00) for the 2024 Olympic Marathon trials in February in Orlando. In addition, one of our newest athletes had previously qualified for that event. And another of our newer members placed 2nd in the Munich Half Marathon in Germany. Again, these results were posted on our GTC-ELITE website, www.gtc-elite.org. Our other members are training hard and you will see results from them in the new year!

Our “Project 262” Initiative is set up to help our athletes have the best opportunity for success in at the USA Olympic Trials and throughout 2024! We are presenting an opportunity for you to set aside some dollars by the end of 2023 and invest in our athletes. We have two levels of support: a donation of $26.20 or a higher level of $262.00. These funds will go toward training and travel expenses for these post-collegiate, Olympic-development athletes, beginning with prep for the the Chevron Houston Half Marathon and the Olympic Trials Marathon in Orlando.
