Celebrate the Lowcountry’s autumn season at Kiawah River’s annual Fall Field Day, featuring the Run Like the Devil 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, October 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families and friends (and pets!) are invited to enjoy a safe and socially distant event that includes a farmers market full of local makers and goods, contactless children’s games, live music, food trucks and more. 

With more than 2,000 acres of picturesque land, Kiawah River offers Field Day attendants and race participants unmatched views of the season-changing leaves in the Lowcountry. The family friendly event is free and open to the public. Attendees are required to RSVP online prior to the event, and face masks are also mandatory for non-runners. 

Check-in for the Run Like the Devil race opens at 9 a.m., with the 5K Trail Run starting at 10 a.m. and the Fun Run at 12 p.m. Race tickets range from $20 to $45, and all proceeds support the Charleston Collegiate School’s annual fund. Pre-registration is required to participate in the Run Like the Devil 5K and Fun Run.

COVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:

Kiawah River and CCS, under the counsel of the CDC and SC state guidelines, have constructed special protocols and procedures to ensure a safe, controlled experience for all during our event. We are happy to share that this year’s event has been APPPROVED by the SC Dept. of Commerce and we can move forward in a healthy and safe manner.

FAQs so you're ready for RLTD 2020! 

Q. Do you have to register to attend the event? 
A. YES. We are requiring that ALL non-runner attendees register for FREE. We’d love for you to join us even if you don’t run. There will be a kids' scavenger hunt, live music, food trucks, CCS merchandise for sale, the PTO hydration station, and lots of fun to be had!

Q. Where do I park? 
A. Head to 3883 Betsy Kerrison Parkway (you'll see a big dark fence). Once you turn into the driveway, you will follow the road for 1.5 miles where you'll meet our parking attendants. 

Q: Will attendees be required to wear masks? 
A: We ask that ALL attendees wear masks while NOT social distancing- moving about the event, at registration, and when standing in line. You may remove face coverings once you and your family are in a socially distanced area. 

Q: What about masks during the race? 
A: ALL runners (Fun Run and 5K) will be required to wear masks/gaiters at the starting line. You can remove them once you are at a safe distance from other runners. We will be selling runner-friendly face coverings at the CCS Table for $10! 

Q: Where can I pick up my race packet? 
A. You can pick up your race packet at the registration table beginning at 9:00 AM. 
This will include: Race bib, T-shirt, and goodies from our sponsors 

Q. Is the race chip-timed? 
A. Yes, the 5K race is chip-timed by TimingInc. 

Q. Are strollers welcome?
A. The Fun Run is paved and completely stroller friendly! The 5K terrain will require all-terrain strollers. We ask that strollers start in the back. 

Q. Are participants permitted to walk in the races? 
A. Absolutely! Walkers are welcome in the 5K and the Fun Run. The 5K course is a natural course with beautiful scenery and the Fun Run is paved through the neighborhood. 

Q. Are dogs welcome? 
A. Yes! Please bring your pets, but please keep them on a leash and clean up after them. 

Q. Can I wear a Halloween costume? 
A. Sure, why not! We will not be holding a costume contest this year, but costumes are encouraged! 

Q. What does registration include? 
A. 5K registration includes: Chip-timed trail run Race t-shirt (only guaranteed to those registered prior to October 12th - extra t-shirts may be available for late registration) Prizes for top 3 female and top 3 male race winners Medals for top 3 finishers in each age group Fun Run registration includes: Race t-shirt (only guaranteed to those registered prior to October 12th - extra t-shirts may be available for late registration) Prizes for top 3 race winners 

Q. How much is registration? 
A. The 5K registration is $45 and the Fun Run is $20. Please register in advance. T-shirts are subject to availability if you registered after Oct. 12th. 

Q. What do the funds raised support? 
A. The money raised at this event goes to the CCS 2020-2021 Annual Fund! The CCS Annual Fund supports classroom supplies, technology, teacher salaries, field trips, and lots of other important elements of education for students in the Lowcountry.
