We hope this post finds you and your family safe from the effects of Hurricane Florence. Our friends at SetUp Events, who have helped us plan the event and will be doing the production and timing of the race, live in Wilmington, NC. As I’m sure most of you are aware, Wilmington was hit hard by hurricane Florence and unfortunately as the surrounding rivers continue to flood, it is only getting worse. Aside from the destruction they are dealing with around them, they can not get out of Wilmington to make the trip to Charleston.
It is for these reasons we must change gears a little bit. We will be proceeding with the race as planned but it will not be a timed event. We apologize for the inconvenience but these circumstances are beyond our control. We value each and every one of you that are willing to support our great cause, to help our friends at MUSC Children’s Health put a stop to pediatric cancer. We don’t make this decision lightly and are working hard to make this a great event for everyone.
On race day we will be collecting storm supplies to send to Wilmington. If you have storm supplies that you would like to donate please bring them with you Saturday and we will make sure the people in need get them.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Please keep our friends in Wilmington in your thoughts and prayers!
Excited about race day,
The Towne Family

The Hammer It Out Hustle race is a family-focused event that raises money for MUSC Children's Health.
The Hammer It Out Hustle 5k and Fun Run runs in conjunction with the Hammer Out Pediatric Cancer campaign. Hammer Out Pediatric Cancer was started in 2013 by Chuck and Christine Towne in an effort to give back to MUSC after their son, Chase, went through months of treatments after being diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma at the age of 8 months. Through the support of the community the Hammer Out Pediatric Cancer campaign as donated thousands of dollars to the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. The all-volunteer board works passionately in hopes of making a difference with children and families battling cancer.
One hundred percent of profits raised through the Hammer It Out Hustle will be donated directly to MUSC Children's Health.
