New Year's 5K & Kids Half Mile
Start the New Year on the right foot!
Kick off the year with fresh goals, good company, and a few miles at the New Year's 5K! Whether you're chasing a new personal best, starting a New Year's resolution, or simply looking for a fun way to get moving with family and friends, this race is the perfect way to begin the year.
Join us on January 2nd at 10:00 am for the 5K. We're also getting the youngest runners involved with a Kids Half Mile, making this a great event for the entire family.
5K Race
The New Year's 5K follows the Gold Line of the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Designed for runners and walkers of all abilities. Starting and finishing at Travelers Rest High School.

Kids Half Mile
Bring the kids and let them start the year running, too! The Kids Half Mile gives our youngest participants a chance to experience the excitement of race day in a fun and welcoming environment.

What's Included
Age Group Categories
Awards
Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers in the 5K, along with the top three finishers in each age group category. Every Kids Half Mile finisher gets their own moment crossing the finish line with a certificate.
Good to Know
Where will the race actually be held?
Travelers Rest High School - plenty of parking in front. Course map is still being finalized. We'll announce the packet pickup details — as soon as it's confirmed.
What time does the race start?
The 5K starts at 10:00 AM. The Kids Half Mile starts at 9:30.
The Kids Half Mile is only $5 — do I still need to register my child?
Yes. Registering ahead of time helps us plan for every young runner on race day.
Is the course okay for walkers, strollers, or first-timers?
Yes — the 5K starts and finishes on the TRHS track, but is mostly on the Gold Line of the Swamp Rabbit Trail...designed for runners and walkers of all abilities.
Registration & Transfer Policy
All registrations are managed through your RunSignUp profile. You can transfer your entry to another runner, switch between the 5K and Kids Half Mile, transfer to a different Upstate Race Series event, update your personal details, or manage add-ons and apparel — all without contacting us. All entries are final; we're unable to offer refunds or deferrals.
