Troop 361 Run For The Future

Greetings current and potential Run For The Future runners. As you know, this race has been established to raise funds for Troop 361. This year, 2020, would have been our second event, ever, and it was very much an anticipatory event. Do to a number of factors, including COVID-19 fears, the members of the Troop Committee have decided to cancel this year’s event. This was not an easy decision, and the Committee had much debate regarding this action. As a runner myself, I know what this COVID-19 virus has done to race events this year, and this one is no exception. Please keep an eye on this page as we move into 2021 and race again. We don’t yet know the date for next year, but the idea has been brought up to make the date earlier. Keep your eyes on this site for more information. Attention all runners and walkers! Please come join the leadership, youth, and committee members of Troop 361 for the second annual “Run For The Future” fun run/walk. Yes, we call this run a 5-K run, it’s really a little longer at 3.61 miles in honor of our 25+ year history as Troop 361. The race is an out and back beginning and ending at Sertoma Park, Sioux Falls, SD. The course is generally level, with just a few minor inclines. The course should allow for some fast run times because of how level it is. There will be a water station at the turnaround point. We hope to make this race an annual event, and grow the runners, and community involvement each year. Thank you for making our first race a success!
The Scout Oath includes: “To keep myself physically strong. . .” This new 5-K race in Sioux Falls does its part to help Scouts, adult leaders, and community members keep this part of the Oath.
All proceeds from this race will benefit Troop 361. The funds will be used for include: scholarships for boys in need to go to camps, adult leader training and materials, youth training, purchase of new tents, and maintenance of existing equipment, and much, much, more.
Packet pickup will only be race-day, October 3, from 6:30-7:35am at Sertoma Park.
Athlete briefing at 7:45am, including a flag ceremony presented by the youth of Troop 361.
The entrance fee will include a T-shirt, water, and some nutrition at the end of the race. The t-shirt, in the size ordered will be guaranteed if registered by September 18, 2020. The race will go on in all weather conditions. No refunds or transfers.
