Description

Race Caneled

Saturday, August 19, 2023
 Start                           9:00 am
Start, exchange, and finish at Iron Creek Campground. The campground is located 13 miles SW of Spearfish.
Swim Leg:   500 or 1000 Meters.  We will use a mass wave.  The course is a triangular course of 500M. Sprinters/Mudders will do one lap and Olympic Distance Racers will do a short beach run to complete a second lap. No fins, snorkels, or propulsion devices are allowed.
Bike Leg:  11 or 21K in the Black Hills Nation Forest. The ride is a loop with a lot of single-track riding. Sprinters will follow the same route but will cut off most of the Old Baldy Trail to finish the course at the same point. There will be one water station on the course
Run Leg:  4 or 8K loop run which is mostly around Iron Creek Lake and campgrounds. You will start with a hill climb at the top you reach the split point. 4K/ Sprinter runners will turn left and run down the joint bike/run route to get back to the lake. Halfway back, runners will turn right to leave the camp road to run around the far side of the lake and then turn run the top of the dam. When you cross the top of the dam, you will climb the hill by the dam and then back down to follow the coastline back to the finish line. Mudder/Olympic racers will turn right at the split point (Taco Alley Bridge) and follow the old bike course to return to Taco Alley Bridge to finish the run course the same as Sprinters.  There will be one water station on the course.

The Trail runner will follow the Triathlon Run course either 4K or 8K runs. We will start the run after the Triathletes clear the transition area but not before 10:00 am
