The 3.1 mile run is one of the flattest, fastest 5K routes you will find. Athletes will leave the transition area and turn West (left) on to Railroad St, stay right at the first and second fork to remain on Railroad St (it will be well-marked), then turn left on to a closed running trail that takes you across the Sangamon River. Stay on the trail as it crosses County Farm Rd (be aware of traffic) and enjoy the gravel section of trail that leads to the Appletree subdivision. The trail ends at the subdivision and athletes will turn left on to Green Apple Lane for about two blocks, then turn around at the cone to return along the same route.
Always run on on your right.
