FAQ
In-Person Race FAQs
Q: What will on-course support be like?
A: We will provide several water stations on course, but likely not as many as in a typical race. We ask that runners come prepared with additional water in a hand-held or other carrier, as well as energy gels, chews, or electrolytes needed. For more information, please check out our Safety Measures page.
Q: What social distancing requirements can I expect at the race?
A: Unless you are from the same common household, we ask that all runners stay socially distanced while in the event areas, including but not limited to packet pick up, start line, on course, finish line and the post-race festivities.
Q: What can I expect at the finish line?
A: When you cross the finish we ask you to put your mask back on. We ask that you continue moving through the finish area - no standing or waiting inside the finish line area will be allowed. All finish line treats will be pre-packaged.
Q: If the race is canceled, what can I expect?
A: If the race is canceled or shut down by county/city health officials we will transfer all in-person registrations to the virtual option or issue a full refund.
Q: What safety measures will be in place?
A: Safety is our number one priority, to see all of our planned safety measures, please visit our safety page. Expect masks to be required, social distancing to be enforced, and low course density allowing everyone to enjoy their races.
Q: Are spectators allowed?
A: Spectators are allowed, but must remain socially distanced from anyone not from the same household. We ask that there be no congregating at the start/finish line. There is plenty of space for spectators to watch the race from a safe distance.
Q: What do I receive with my in-person registration?
A: With your registration you will receive a Share the Love 5K/10K sweatshirt, digital finisher’s certificate, bib number, commemorative finisher’s medal, post-race treat bag with treats, and water bottle.
Q: May I use my deferral code from Marathon Weekend 2020’s cancellation?
A: Yes. You may use it for the in-person or virtual Finish Line 2020. If you selected to defer your entry (a choice you were asked to make in April), you were emailed a code in May. That code can be used to gain free entry into this event. If you cannot find your emailed code, please email info@gostlouis.org. (Please note: looking for your email/code prior to asking us to re-send would be much appreciated. We are operating on a skeleton crew due to the pandemic and financial event loss this year.)
Q: Will the race be timed?
A: Yes this race will be a ChronoTrack chip timed event. All results and awards will be based on chip times.
Q: Is the course certified?
A: Yes, this is a certified 5k and 10k route.
Q: Is there a time limit?
A: Yes, we have a time limit of two and a half hours from the start of the last wave.
Virtual Race FAQs
Q: How does a virtual race work?
A: First select a distance you'd like to compete or complete. We offer a 5k or 10k. Once you register for a distance, the next step is to complete the distance and earn your finisher medal. The distance set by the event that you register for can be completed at any location of your choice, and can even be completed indoors on a treadmill! You have until February 28, 2021 to complete your race and submit your time.
Q: Where should I run my race?
A: That's the beauty of a virtual race, you can run or ride wherever and whenever you like! We do, however, insist you stay safe by observing all local, state and federal social distancing orders as well as respecting any closures or social distancing rules of local, county or state parks. Also if you're not feeling well or experiencing any symptoms of COVID19, it's best you stay home, rest and seek medical attention if necessary.
Q: What do I get for participating?
A: Participants get a premium hooded sweatshirt with a special 2020 design!), a custom limited edition Finish Line 2020 themed finisher’s medal, a pair of lightweight gloves, and a virtual race bib.
Q: Do I need a GPS watch or smartphone app to track my mileage?
A: You can use whatever technology that works best of you to track your mileage, but we will not require any proof of activity. However, we do encourage you to submit your results to see how you stack up against your competition!
Q: Do treadmill miles count? How about elliptical miles?
A: Yes for treadmills miles and elliptical miles!
Q: I'm running in another race during the same period as the challenge. Can I count those miles toward my total?
A: Yes.
Q: When do I receive my swag?
A: You will have the option to have your packet shipped during registration, but we will be holding an in-person packet pickup at Big River Running Company (13969 Manchester Rd Town & Country, MO 63011) on Wednesday, February 10th, 2pm - 6pm and Thursday, February 11th, 2pm - 6pm. We will be shipping packets the week of February 15, and you will receive an email when your packet ships with a tracking number. Please be patient with our small but mighty crew and also USPS as we get these packages out in the mail to you!
Q: What do the medals look like and are shirts available?
A: See the Race Swag tab for pictures of the the medals and shirts.
