Starting in 2026, we will begin offering conditional refunds if an event has sold out and we have a willing participant signed up on the waitlist to take the registration. Prior to the event selling out, we will not be able to offer refunds.
A conditional refund means you give up your race spot and request a refund, but you only get your money back if a new person registers to fill your open spot. Refunds are processed in the order they are requested as new participants sign up. Original processing fees are non-refundable in addition to the refund fee.
Additionally, the Shiner Beer Run has a long-standing policy of not allowing bib transfers due to the extensive backend logistics involved and important liability considerations. Bibs are strictly non-transferable. If a bib is given or sold to another person, it can create serious safety concerns in the event of an emergency.
Participants who give or sell their bib to someone else will be disqualified, and the original registrant will be prohibited from participating in future Shiner events.
We do offer third-party insurance through RunSignUp. This insurance covers many things that could happen in everyday life that may prohibit your participation in the event including select injuries, job loss, weather issues, and more. Please refer to the insurance option during registration to see what is covered. We strongly advise considering its purchase in-case something happens.
We have physical space constraints that limit the amount of participants we can safely allow in each event. Starting in 2026 we will have a waitlist option if an event distance sells out. The wait list will be managed automatically based on a first-come-first-serve basis.
When a spot opens up, the next person on the wait list will be emailed a registration like. They will have 24 hours to register using that link or the spot will automatically be given to the next person in line. Our waitlist works automatically and it is not a manual process so we will not be able to grant exceptions. If you are on the waitlist, please regularly check your spam folder to ensure your registration has not been filtered from your inbox.
