Security
Kennedy Space Center is protected as a federal government facility. For the safety of visitors and employees, the following items are not permitted at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex:
- Firearms of any type, including those belonging to off-duty law enforcement
- Ammunition of any type
- Pepper or Mace sprays
- Knives of any type, including any item with a blade
- Glass containers
- Alcoholic beverages
- Additionally, large coolers, luggage and other large bags are not permitted through the front gate. Be prepared: all bags, backpacks and other items may be opened and inspected at the discretion of security officers. If any of the above items are discovered, you will be asked to return them to your vehicle. If you choose not to return the items to your vehicle, you must surrender them to a security officer. Surrendered items will not be returned to you. All visitors must pass through a metal-detecting magnetometer screening device.
When and where does the race take place?
Friday, January 17, 2025 at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. The 3K race starts at 7:00 PM.
How long is the course?
3K (approx 1.86 mile) run/walk course.
How will I be timed?
The race will be chip timed and results will be posted online during/ after the race.
When and where do I pick up my registration materials?
Packet pickup for those pre-registered will take place on race day from 5:30 PM - 6:45 PM on Friday, January 17, 2025. Late registration on race day will also start at 5:30 PM for all participants not pre-registered.
Who gets a shirt?
Only pre-registered runners that complete the registration and payment process by December 17, 2024 are guaranteed a race shirt at no cost. Those participants who have pre-registered by December 17, 2024 will be first to receive their shirt and preferred size.
What if I need help along the way?
Qualified emergency medical professionals are available to provide assistance at the start/finish lines.
Can I participate in the event with my dog?
Sorry, as much as we love our pets too, the safety of participants is our main concern. Therefore, we do not allow pets on the course.
I will be out of town on race day and not able to participate. Can I get my money returned?
We appreciate your race registration. As the race brochure states, we are unable to issue refunds.
What if there is a rocket launch the day of the race?
Kennedy Space Center is a working space flight facility and as a result, events are subject to change without advance notice. In the event of a scheduled rocket launch at a time that would conflict with the Space Race, communication on potential re-scheduling of the race will be provided to registered participants as soon as available.
Will the race be held if it's raining?
The race is a "rain or shine" event. All participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, such as in a rain coat or hat. Umbrellas can pose a safety hazard to others and are not permitted.
Can I transfer my entry to someone else?
We have a strict NO TRANSFER policy.
Where do I park?
Complimentary parking is available on site in parking lots 4 and 5 beginning at 5:00 PM.
