OUR WHY

Since 2019 I have lost my daughter, Taylor Sparks, who was a daughter, sister, mother and a nurse and my father-in-law, Charlie Hill, to suicide.

Taylor had a beautiful soul that could light up a room. She was empathetic, caring, and full of fire. Overtime, she struggled more and more with depression. With the birth of a new baby she began struggling as well with postpartum depression. The light slowly drained until only a spark was left. Taylor spiraled into darkness. She visited an emergency room where she was quickly released even though she was experiencing suicidal idealizations. She was given a contact list of resources and sent on her way. Taylor took her own life one week later leaving behind a newborn son, a 5-year-old son, and a family who loved her dearly.

Charlie had one of the best smiles and sense of humor.  He would give you the shirt off his back and my children could not ask for a better Grandfather.  He was a man that kept busy all the time and loved the outdoors.  As he aged he became very frustrated with the limitations his body put on him and his depression grew worse every day.  We were totally taken by surprise on 10/17/2022 when his world also became dark and he could not see his way to the light.

Unfortunately, we are not the only family that has experienced this kind of loss of this magnitude.

With your participation/donation you will have an opportunity to witness those suffering in the darkness, take control of their mental wellness and bring light to their lives. We are “Lighting the path” to help other have a brighter future.
