Sprint for Scholarships 5K (Draft)

Race Venue

1. Where will be the race be held?  At the Arboretum at 500 Alumni Drive, Lexington, KY 40503 on the University of Kentucky campus.
2. What time does the race start?  The 5K race start time is 9:00 am.
3. What time should I arrive?  Please arrive at least one hour before the race start time.
4. Where will I park?  Parking is available in the Arboretum parking lots. Overflow parking is available in the lot to the west of the Arboretum near the round about at Alumni Drive and Commonwealth Street.
5. Are restrooms available at the race venue? Yes, restrooms in the Arboretum Visitor Center will be open. There are facilities in the green building near the parking lot as well.

 

Race Registration

1. When does online registration close?  Online registration will close on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at midnight.
2. Can I register on race day?  Yes! Race day registration will be available for an increased fee over pre-registration fees. Cash and checks only will be accepted on race day.
3. What do I get for my registration fee? Your registration fee includes a race number (bib) with timing chip and a race t-shirt. T-shirts are only guaranteed for those that register by the April 7 deadline.
4. Is there a benefitting charity?  Yes, all proceeds benefit the UK Alumni Association Scholarship fund.
5. Can I get a refund of my registration fee? Sorry. registration fees go to the benefiting charity and are non-refundable.

 

Race Participation

1. When can I get my race t-shirt and race number?  On race day starting at 7:30 am at the race site.
2. Can I view a course map?  Yes. Click here to view the course map.
3. Is the course totally on hard surfaces?  Yes! The course is on the asphalt path that surrounds the Arboretum property.
4. Is the course suitable for strollers?  Yes. Pushing a stroller on this course will be allowed, but please line up behind the main running pack at the Start Line.
5. Can I walk the race?  Yes! Walkers are welcome.
6. Can I bring my dog?  Yes! Dogs on a fixed length leash are welcome. No retractable leashes please as they create a trip hazard. You are responsible for picking up and disposing of waste. Dogs are NOT ALLOWED in any garden or building, including the Kentucky Children's Garden. Seeing eye or service animals are allowed if properly marked.

 

Race Timing/Awards/Results

1. Will the race be timed?  Yes! The race will be timed by 3 Way Racing.
2. Will awards be presented after the race?  Yes! Awards for the top male and female finishers will be presented as soon as possible after the race. Additionally, top 3 in 18 & Under and Over 18 will be awarded. These  awards will be based on the "gun time" of these finishers.
