RACE INFORMATION

Clarien Iron Kids is a community-driven event hosted by Clarien Bank allowing youth living in Bermuda to compete in a traditional swim, bike and run junior triathlon.

There is a timed race for ages 7-15 and then a fun Tiny Tots race for ages 3-6 afterwards and parents can accompany their child the whole way around. Either a Racing Bike or BMX, Mountain Bike can be used. Additionally, beforehand, starting from 11:30am feel free to try your skills at rowing with the Bermuda Rowing Association or sailing with the St. George’s Dinghy and Sports Club in celebration of Bermuda Olympic Day, and at 1pm there will be a 5k fun/run walk followed by the 30th Annual Clarien Iron Kids Triathlon and Carnival.

Registration for all BOA events is free and Ironkids entry is $15 entry fee for ages 7-15 or $8 for the Tiny Tots race (ages 3-6). Come out for a very full and fun family fun day with the kids! This year will be the 30th anniversary of the race! 

REGISTER BEFORE JUNE 8TH FOR A CHANCE TO WIN ONE OF TWO CUSTOM FIT BIKES FROM BICYCLE WORKS!

Participants should plan on arriving Saturday, June 23  between 11:00am and 1:30pm for pre-race preparation, which includes:

  • Swim number body marking 
  • Race Kit collection

All participants should have the following to participate:

SWIM

  • Swim Cap (Iron Kids provided)
  • Goggles (optional)
  • Helmet (mandatory)
  • Shirt (Iron Kids provided)
  • Towel (Iron Kids provided)

Tiny Tots may wear buoyancy devices such as waterwings; use any swim stroke; standing and short walks are allowed

BIKE

  • Kids in any age category can choose to ride on a racing or non-racing bike.
  • Classification:  A non-racing bike is a standard mountain bike/BMX-style bike. 
  • Hard shell cycling helmet is mandatory 
  • Shoes are required 
  • Any two-wheeled bike in good condition is acceptable 
  • Tiny Tots may use three-wheeled bikes or training wheels
  • Parent/guardian: please check brakes, gears, and steering before event. 
  • Aerobars are not allowed 
  • Participants will ride on left hand side of the road 
  • Race organizers reserve the right to categorize the bikes as they deem appropriate

RUN

  • Running shoes are required 
  • Walking allowed 
  • Issued competitor number to be worn on front of body during the race

Awards

  • Kids aged 3 – 15 have the opportunity to swim, bike and run and a chance to win a $3,000 Iron Kids account.
  • Kids competing in the 11-15 category can compete to win up to $1,000 in an Iron Kids account.  

All registrations received by 5pm on Friday, 8 June will be entered into a draw for one of two custom fit bicycles courtesy of Bicycle Works.
