2025 Honorees
Chicago Police Officer Andres Maurico Vasquez-Lasso, Star #7649, aged 32 years, was a 4 year, 11-month, veteran of the Chicago Police Department assigned to the 8th District- Chicago Lawn. On March 1, 2023 Officer Vasquez-Lasso and his partner responded to a domestic-related call about a man chasing a woman down the street with a gun. They exited their squad car and gave chase in an attempt to stop the offender who opened fire on Officer Vasquez-Lasso striking him multiple times. Mortally wounded, Officer Vasquez-Lasso was able to return fire striking Offender. Officer Vasquez-Lasso was pronounced at Mount Sinai Hospital shortly after arriving. Police officer Vasquez-Lasso was born June 23, 1990. He is survived by his wife Milena Estepa; mother Rocio Lasso; sister Carolina Vasquez and niece Alejandra Guevara
Chicago Police Officer Luis M. Huesca, star #18913, aged 30 years, was a 6-year,1 month veteran of the Chicago Police department, assigned to the 5th District – Calumet and detailed to Unit 212. On April 21, 2024 Officer Luis M. Huesca was returning home after his shift while still dressed in his uniform, pulled into his driveway an offender walked to his vehicle and shot multiple times striking him. The offender proceeded to take officer Luis M. Huesca’s duty weapon and vehicle and fled the scene. Responding Officers discovered him on the ground suffering from multiple gun shot wounds. Officer Luis M. Huesca was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital where he was pronounced a short time later. Officer Luis M. Huesca is survived by his parents; Edith and Emiliano Huesca, Emiliano Huesca Jr. and Liliana O’Brian.
Chicago Police Officer Enrique Martinez, Star #8314, aged 26 years, 2-year, 10-month veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the 6th District - Gresham. On November 4, 2024 officer Enrique Martinez and his partner while working their shift attempted to conduct a traffic stop on three occupants in a vehicle. Upon approach of the vehicle the offender shot towards Officer Enrique Martinez several times striking him. Officer Enrique Martinez was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital where he was pronounced. Officer Enrique Martinez is survived by his fiancée, Lesly Hernandez; grandmother; parents: Adrian and Rosa Martinez and siblings: Angelica and Adrian Martinez Garcia (CPD).
