Description

The Full Belly 5K is a 5K, 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, and family fun event to support Alabama Childhood Food Solutions and will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Veterans Park on Valleydale Road in Hoover, AL. Vendors and food trucks will be set up from 8am-12pm so bring some money and some friends and join us in supporting a great cause!

ACFS is a non-profit 501c3 organization run entirely by volunteers so 100% of donations are used to purchase, store, and distribute food to children and families in need. The proceeds of this race will directly impact the 2,150 school children in Shelby, Talladega, Coosa, Calhoun, and Randolph Counties who are served by ACFS each week. These are students who have been identified by their school counselors and/or after school programs as being food insecure and dependent upon the free breakfasts and lunches they receive at school because food is scarce at home. Each month, ACFS also shares food with over 625 families from their distribution warehouse. In 2016, ACFS shared 543,000 meals and snacks with children and gave over half a million pounds of food to food insecure families in Central Alabama.  You can find out more about this organization by visiting childhoodfoodsolutions.com.
