MollyK 5K was founded in 2012 in memory of Mradula "Molly" Kalathia, who passed away from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). Our event is to promote disease awareness and support research efforts leading to a cure for IPF. Please visit http://mollyk.org to learn more about MollyK and how you can help.
Pulmonary Fibrosis affects up to 200,000 Americans and is a condition in which the lung tissue becomes thickened, stiff, and scarred and the brain and other organs don’t get the oxygen they need. In some cases, doctors can determine the cause of the fibrosis, but in most cases, there is no known cause. PF can strike anyone, but the disease tends to affect men more than women and usually occurs between the ages of 50 and 70. An estimated 40,000 people die in the US each year from PF. The median survival rate is just two to three years following diagnosis, and more than two-thirds of patients will die within five years.
Funds raised through MollyK will benefit the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to identifying effective PF treatments and assisting those living with the disease. Registration and Check-in
Online registration is available until Midnight on Nov 16, 2017
On-site registration will be between 7-7:45 am on Nov 18, 2017 at Burke Lake Park, Shelter A
Check-in/Packet Pickup: will be between 7-7:45 am on Nov 18, 2017 at Burke Lake Park, Shelter A
Parking: Burke Lake Park, Shelter A Parking Lot (If full, Picnic Areas 2 & 3 offer additional parking and are a short 2-minute walk)
5K Run/Walk: Early bird registration $25 through Oct 18 ($30 thereafter)
1K Fun Run/Walk: Early bird registration $15 through Oct 18 ($20 thereafter) *free for kids 5 and under
Everyone registering before Nov 1st will receive one free short-sleeved T-shirt! Long-sleeved option is available for $5. There may be extra t-shirts for those who register after Nov 1 or on-site, but they will be available on a first-come first-serve basis.
Awards and Raffles
5K: Top three males and females (adult 14 and up) / Top three Males and females (youth 13 and under). All winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded at the completion of the race.
Funrun: All kids will receive medals.
Raffle tickets: $5 for one/$10 for three. Raffle tickets may be purchased online with registration or on-site the day of event. Raffle tickets are to be placed into the entry boxes of your choice. Prize drawings will take place at the completion of the race. You must be present to receive the prize.

8 am: 5K Run/Walk Start
8:15 am: 1K FunRun/Walk Start
9-10 am: Refreshments, Race and Raffle Winner Announcements and Prizes, Group Picture
