2026 Race Week Email

It's almost time to Storm the Day 2026!!!

Thank you for signing up for Storm the Day! We are excited and are looking forward to sharing the day with you.  Here’s what to expect for race weekend.

Friday, October 9th

Starting at 5:30 pm we’ll be open for bib pick up at Prairie Island Campground. We will stay open until 6:30 pm. If you ordered a shirt, you can pick your shirt up at this time as well. We will have other Storm items for sale such as mason jar mugs, buffs, and a few extra race shirts. We take cash, checks, or credit cards. Be sure to grab one of our free stickers as well!

You may not set up your tents on Friday night. This can be done Saturday morning beginning around 6:30am.

Teams - You will have one bib for the whole team which will need to be passed from one participant to the next as you switch runners. We will have bib belts available if you want to avoid having to pin and unpin the bib over and over. Remember that laps only count for the person wearing the bib. You may join your teammate on the course if you want to get some extra loops, but those loops will not count towards your team's total.

Saturday, October 10th

We will open at 6:30 am for bib pickup and for those who want to set up their staging/rest/party area (see map below). Again, all items mentioned above will be available for sale at the check-in table. There will be hot coffee and Bloedow’s donuts in the campground office for purchase.

VOLUNTEERS - Please check in at the race headquarters near the start/finish line when you arrive. We will give you instructions on where you will be located for your volunteer role. You may want to bring a chair as there will be slower times throughout the day that you may want to sit.

We’ll do some quick pre-race announcements and get started at Sunrise, 7:15 am. If you need to arrive after the official start time, please come to the aid station to check in and pick up your bib.

Throughout the day, feel free to run or walk as much or as little as you want. Remember, this is an 11-hour 16 minute event and it’s about your personal goals for that time.  If you want to take a break and kayak on the river for a while or perhaps sit in your comfy camp chair and have some snacks while chatting with your friends….go for it! You can even leave and return later to finish out the event. We do ask that you let us know if you are leaving the campground. We don’t want to lose anyone!

With 30 minutes left in the event (when completing a whole loop would be unlikely) we will start with ¼ mile out and backs (½ mile round trip) within the campground so you can continue adding distance to your total. You will need to be diligent when coming to the counting table to be sure your counter has marked you for completing that out and back before you head out again. This last 30 minutes is one of the most exciting parts of the day. If you leave earlier in the day, be sure to come back out and witness some goal-crushing action!

We will have an aid station set up with the typical trail running goodies such as PB&Js, candy, chips, pop, bananas and other snacks. We will also have water and Mandarin Tailwind available to fill your drinking vessel. WE ARE A CUPLESS EVENT! So please remember to bring something to drink from as cups will NOT be provided.

If you need something a bit more substantial to eat, we will be providing lunch around noon and will be bringing pizza in around 6:00 pm to fill you up as the sun sets. There will be a variety of items for sale at the campground snack/beverage truck. Alcoholic beverages are allowed in the campground. You can also bring your drink of choice to consume, just please make sure it is not in a glass container. We don’t want any broken glass left anywhere in the campground. Please also be sure that you dispose of any garbage you may have in the dumpsters located near the parking area. We want to leave the course in the same or better condition than when the event starts.

As you wrap up your day of fun, The Bootleggers will be playing live music from 5:00-8:00 pm near the Camp Store. You can dance your way into the Sunset as you finish up at 6:31 pm!

Course Map

The course is marked by the blue line on the map and is approximately 2.50 miles in length. The course is made up of approximately ½ mile of paved/crushed gravel in the campground and approximately 2 miles on the wide dirt trails across the road.

HQ Close up

We have moved Race HQ and the Start/Finish line this year! Look for us near the river, as indicated on the above map.

Parking will be self-managed with parking available in the main parking lot and in the gravel parking area next to Tent City. There is overflow parking on the far side of the campground.

Tent City is the area where you can set up a small tent, canopy, chair, table, etc to call your home for the day when you are not on the course. Tents are not allowed in this area until Saturday morning.

The vault toilets and the shower/bathroom are in the campground, see red stars.

The mission of Storm Sporting Events is to promote health and wellness while raising awareness for youth mental health through inclusive events for all ages. Our goal is to raise funds for programs and scholarships dedicated to providing essential services in youth mental healthcare. This year, Storm the Day will be supporting the Prairie Island Adventure Club! ALL donations and a portion of the proceeds will be donated directly to this incredible youth program! The Prairie Island Adventure Club is dedicated to empowering youth ages 5-14 through outdoor adventures, and we're excited to support their goal to provide experiences in social emotional learning guided by a Licensed Professional Counselor, all done in an active environment and adventure education program! PAIC aims to connect youth to the outdoors and nature to increase protective factors for individual healing, to build community connections, therefore building resilience in participants and their families. To read more about this amazing program, check out The Joy Labs website.

This weekend’s campground theme is Halloween!🎃 Feel free to throw on a costume and hit the trail for a fun or spooky lap or two! Best costume on the course from 1-2pm will win a prize! Watch for other hourly prize drawings as well!

Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. We will have a busy week but will try to respond as quickly as possible.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing everyone this weekend!
