Before sponsoring The Superhero Showdown 15k/5k, please consider this. We are the only 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing education and financial assistance for patients living with Mast Cell Disease. Taylor is the founder and creator of Super T's Mast Cell Foundation. She was able to create the foundation before passing away September 2017. (Please read her vision at supertmastcell.org)
Have you ever heard of mast cell, mast cell disease, or mast cell disorders? Well mast cell's are found in our body's tissues. They play an important role in allergy, anaphylaxis, and immune defenses. Mast Cell Disease is the "umbrella" term for conditions in which the body either produces too many mast cells or the body has the correct amount, however the cells function improperly.
Currently, mast cell disorders are considered incurable, but can be managed or considered to be in remissions. Under Mast Cell Disease, there are various forms, they are: Cutaneous Mastocytosis, Systemic Mastocytosis, and Mast Cell Activiation Disorder. MCAD, is what Taylor suffered from.
Your sponsorship will make a difference in the lives of these patients. All proceeds raised by the race helps us provide grant opportunities several times a year for patients helping to offset their living and medical expenses.
