Sweatbee Swarm 5K 2016

Come join us for this FUN-filled, 5k/1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. The Dayton City School(DCS) Physical Education Department will be sponsoring this community 5k/1 mile event to encourage movement and physical activity. We would like to get the community and school moving.

Why? “Tennessee's rate of childhood obesity is 14.5%. Those children are five times as likely as normal-weight children to be overweight or obese as adults, which can lead to lifelong physical and mental health issues;” states the 2013 report from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Another 2014 eye-opening report states, “One in three children in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama is overweight.” Let’s move!

Event details and schedule
 

DAY OF RACE: 8:00AM Registration; 9:00AM 5k Run begins; 1 mile (non-timed) Fun Run/Walk immediately following 5k start.

REGISTRATION FEES(all fees increase by $5 after March 27): 5k Run/Walk - $25 per person, 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk - $15 per person. Dayton City School

Students: $5.00; Dayton City School Parents/Staff: $15.00. EXACT CASH or CHECK ONLY. T-SHIRTS will be available to those who pre-egister by March 4, while supplies last.

PACKET PICK-UP: will be held the day of the race in the Dayton City School gymnasium starting at 7:30 a.m.

RACE LOCATION & COURSE DESCRIPTION: Race will be located at Dayton City School. The course will start in front of the DCS gym rolling over small hills through Dayton and bringing back through downtown to finish in front of the DCS Bell Tower. The first half has a gradual incline and the second half brings you back down.

AWARDS: will be given for overall top male/female finisher and top finisher in each age group of the 5K (1-14; 15-19, 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+).

Door Prizes will be offered as well. You must be present to win.
