Because of the popularity of the race, from August to November we are working with the UT Office of Asia Engagement to extend the virtual run to welcome students, faculty, and staff safely return to campus and to celebrate cultural diversity. May is Asian/Pacific Islanders celebration Month. Join us Virtual 5K run/ 1 mile walk. Engaging in regular physical activity is a great way to help manage stress and strengthen your immune system. In fact, research shows that "fit individuals" -- defined as those who partake in regular physical activity -- have a lower incidence of infection compared to inactive and sedentary individuals. What's more, being physically active may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases that could further weaken your immune system, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity. 5K run or 1 mile walk is the start for your healthier life.
Since March, we have been donating part of the race registration fee to support local COVID-19 relief efforts.
We have been closely monitoring the impact of the coronavirus (COVID‑19), we want you to know that your safety is our top priority. With your well-being in mind and after careful deliberation, the 5K planning committee has decided to transition the 2nd Annual Knox Asian Festival 5k race/walk to a virtual event. We feel it is important to do our part to protect the health of our broader community and those who may be especially vulnerable to this virus.
As an athlete, we appreciate the efforts you make to train and your commitment to maintaining a health and fitness routine.
