The fifth annual Knoxville Race for the Summitt 4-Miler is organized by the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy's Academy of Student Pharmacists chapter to benefit The Pat Summitt Foundation. The Pat Summitt Foundation was founded by the legendary head coach of the Lady Vols Basketball team, Coach Pat Summitt, to promote education and research for Alzheimer's disease. The race course features a 4-mile tour of the UTK campus, where legendary coach Pat Summitt established her legacy. Show your support for Coach Summitt by running or walking in the race and asking friends and family members to become Memory Donors. Please join us in "Backing Pat!"

Schedule of Events

Packet Pick Up Info: Race day packets can be picked up before the race at a designated packet pick up location or the day of the race. If you plan to pick up your race day packet on race day, please arrive by 8 AM to do so.

  • 9/28/18 from 4pm-7pm: Fleet Feed Knoxville (11619 Parkside Drive, Knoxville, TN 37934)

Race Day Timeline:

  • 7:30am: Race packet pick up, registration begins, Silent Auction opens
  • 8:00am: Sponsor booths open
  • 8:45am: Registration ends & runners make their way to the starting line
  • 8:55am: Last minute race instructions and recognition of race sponsors
  • 9:00am: Race begins
  • 10:45am: Silent Auction ends
  • 11:00am: Awards Ceremony and Silent Auction results
About the Host

The race is hosted by the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy's ASP (Academy of Student Pharmacists) chapter. Our chapter's mission is to provide professional development and leadership opportunities for student pharmacists, raise awareness about and advocate for the role of the pharmacist in the healthcare system, and provide health services and education to the citizens of Tennessee.

The first Race for the Summitt 4-MIler was held on the College of Pharmacy's Memphis campus in the Spring of 2011. Last fall marked the fourth time the race was brought to the Knoxville campus. This will be the fifth annual Race for the Summitt 4-Miler in Knoxville.

About the Beneficiary

The mission of The Pat Summitt Foundation is to fight Alzheimer’s disease with a comprehensive approach, awarding grants to organizations that provide:

  • Research to treat, prevent, cure, and ultimately eradicate this disease
  • Education and awareness of Alzheimer's its onset and treatment
  • Support services to patients, their families, and caregivers

Memory Donor

A Memory Donor is an individual who donates $20 or more to our race. In return, you will receive a race t-shirt. Please see the "Donate" tab to become a memory donor. Thank you for your contribution!

Awards

Awards will be given to the top female and male runner in each age group.

Age Groups: <19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+

The top female and male will receive an additional award.

Parking Information

Parking will be in the G-10 parking garage located behind Circle Park on Phillip Fulmer Way next to Thompson Boling Arena. Parking is free and no permit will be required. Please see the attached map for more details about parking.
