The L.E.A.P. 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk

The Knoxville Whirlpool Whirlwinds running club is proud to present the 3rd annual Knoxville L.E.A.P. 5k and Kid’s Mile. Race proceeds will benefit the Knoxville Ladies of Charity and their community emergency assistance programs.  This is a family friendly event; runners and walkers are welcome!

The race will take place on June 15th, 2019 on Neyland Drive in downtown Knoxville. The Kid’s Mile will begin at 8:00 am and the 5k will begin at 8:30 am.  Awards ceremony will be held at approximately 9:30 am.  A post-race vendor expo will be held from 8:30 – 10:00 am at Volunteer Landing.

Kids Zone: Coinciding with the vendor expo, we will have a Kids Zone with games, face painting and more!

Awards:

All registered youth (12 & under) finishers of the Kid's Mile will receive a finisher's medal.

Overall awards for the top three male and female finishers and top male and female masters (40+), as well as top male and female grand masters (50+). Age group awards for top 3 male and female finishers in the following age groups: 0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over. Awards will also be given to the largest and fastest teams.

Packet pick-up and race day registration: Booths will be open from 7am to 8am at Volunteer Landing

Course Description:  USATF certified course # TN09040MS. The course is a flat, fast, out and back course on Neyland Drive alongside the TN River. Participants will begin on Neyland Drive near Calhoun’s on the River and head west towards the UT Agriculture Campus. They will then turn around and return to the finish line.

T-shirts: Pre-registered 5k participants will receive short-sleeved ring spun softstyle t-shirts on race day or at early packet pickup. You must be registered by June 1st to be guaranteed a shirt. Late registrants will receive shirts as supplies last.

Post-Race Expo: Join us for a post-race expo with multiple vendors demonstrating / offering goods and services, many at race-special pricing!

Refreshments:  There will be a water stop on the 5k course, along with post-race refreshments

Race Etiquette: Due to insurance regulations, roller blades, bicycles and dogs are not allowed on the course. Headphones are allowed but discouraged.
