Description

Triathlon is a multifaceted sport requiring endurance, strength, and skill to conquer its three disciplines. It is the ultimate cross-training challenge. All of our comprehensive Triathlon programs include swim instruction and training sessions, bike and run workouts, transition clinics, and a race day preparation workshop.

You done the sprint triathlons and are looking for a new challenge. This program is for the athlete wanting to try a longer distance triathlon, improve individual skills, and learn open water swim techniques. The goal of the program will be to complete an open water sprint triathlon.

This program is for the intermediate triathlete. You should be able to comfortably run a 5K to begin this program.

  • Q&A Session: Thu 3/15 at 5:00 & 5:30 pm. This open-to-all discussion will be followed by a Open Group Walk/Run at 6:00pm.
  • Orientation Week: Join us the week before training starts for a Gear Up Night Thu 03.29 at 5:30 pm. Learn about what you'll need for the training program and earn special discounts just for training program members.
  • Start Week: Begins week of 4/2
  • Workouts: Pool Swim Sessions - 3:30 pm Sunday at the Davis YMCA (see directions below). Brick (Run/Bike) Workouts - Saturday mornings at various locations with open water access. During cooler temperatures, we may do our brick workouts Sunday afternoon before our pool swim sessions. Open Water Swim Sessions - When weather permits, we will introduce open water to our brick workouts.
  • Target Race: Tellico Summer Solstice Olympic and Sprint Triathlon (6/10) or Smokin' the Water Sprint Triathlon (6/30)
  • Cost: $130 (10 weeks)

Participants Receive

  • A complete training schedule and calendar with detailed workouts
  • Pool swim training sessions at the Davis Family YMCA
  • Open water swim training sessions (weather permitting)
  • Educational clinics including: bike maintenance, race day prep, transition set-up and nutrition planning
  • Weekly e-mail from the coach with tips, advice and motivation/encouragement
  • E-mail support – the coach will answer individual questions regarding training and running related issues
  • Technical fiber shirt
  • Training program discounts into the target races

Each training session will focus on a different phase of training, such as swimming in a race setting and transitioning between events.
