Backroads for Benefield

31 or 62 mile ride to benefit Dr. Scott Benefield and his family. Dr. B was struck in a hit-and-run accident during a morning ride on August 26th, 2023. Dr. Benefield is a pediatrician and father to 7 children. He, his wife, Samantha, and the entire family are involved in the local community and their church where Dr. B regularly takes on leadership roles. He organized the yearly 5K fundraiser for the church and was an avid runner. Dr. B was new to the cycling community but had a real passion for the sport. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, as well as numerous fractures and lacerations. Since the accident, he has been unable to return home and now is at Shirley Ryan in Chicago.
