Glow the Distance 5k for MATS

Can you "Glow" the Distance?

Join us to light up the streets of Downtown Morristown by running or walking in Glow the Distance 5k for MATS. Choose to participate competitively by registering under the time option or participate leisurely by selecting the untimed option. The race will take place in downtown Morristown on mainly flat terrain. This will be an evening race where we encourage racers to wear anything and everything that glows--the brighter, the better! Prizes will be awarded for best outfits, as well as race winners.

All proceeds from this event will go to The Ministerial Association Temporary Shelter (MATS). We are a self-sufficiency program for homeless men, women, and children of Hamblen County, as well as 9 surrounding counties. Our program evaluates each individuals root cause of homelessness and strives to assist program participants in finding sustainability through job readiness training, budget training, home management training, sustainable employment, and sustainable housing. 

During the winter months, we also open our warming station in Hamblen county to shelter those not yet ready to enter our program. All of our services are free to participants. MATS relies on the donations of generous individuals, businesses, and churches in the area to keep up with operation costs, including electricity, water, cleaning supplies, food, payroll for staff, building payments and upkeep, and many other expenses. Your participation in this event helps our organization, mission, and community greatly! 

There will be no refunds permitted for this race. If there is inclement weather, we will prepare for a weather date. Registrants will receive a complementary t-shirt if registered by March 1st.

Packet and bib pick up will begin at 6:00pm on race day. Please plan to arrive early enough to get signed in before the 7:45 line up time.
