The American Heroes 5K benefits Hope for Heroes and Honor Flight Austin, two local programs committed to serving every generation of those who served our country.
Established in 2007, Hope for Heroes provides mental health treatment, integrative medicine and other supportive services such as peer support, case management, health education, and community cultural competency training to meet the needs of veterans and their family members in Central Texas. Our program treats the whole person (body, mind, spirit and community) with a ground-breaking combination of traditional and nontraditional therapies. We provide individual, family, group and play therapy, psychological testing, acupuncture, yoga, tai chi, medical massage, herbal therapy, peer-to-peer groups and health education for veterans struggling with PTSD, TBI, depression, addiction, chronic pain, relationship discord, family violence and abuse. Hope for Heroes is a program offered through the Samaritan Center.

The Honor Flight Austin mission is to transport veterans from Austin to Washington, D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices and return them home to their families and loved ones.
Of all of the wars in recent memory, it was World War II that truly threatened our very existence as a nation and as a culturally diverse, free nation. Now, with over one thousand World War II veterans dying each day, our time to express our thanks to these brave men and women is running out.
Honor Flight serves the following counties: Bastrop, Bell, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Gillespie, Gonzales, Hays, Lee, Llano, Milam, Travis, Williamson Counties.
