How does your money help?
Limited financial resources, lack of access to youth sports programs, social isolation, and barriers to healthy lifestyle activities are just some of the challenges young people face in accessing running programs. Through HKRS Cedar Park's 5-week fall and spring running series, and having a supportive community presence, HKRS Cedar Park helps kids build confidence, develop healthy habits, and overcome obstacles to active living. HKRS Cedar Park is part of a nationally recognized organization. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit it offers registration assistance to ensure all children can participate regardless of their family's financial situation, and anyone can access their programs including families new to running. All of their programs are welcoming, inclusive, and tailored to each individual child's age and ability level. Your money helps to do this.

One Mile. Five Weeks. Your Challenge.
ARE YOU IN? 🎯
|
Cedar Park Run is a Fit Foundation event held in partnership with Healthy Kids Running Series Cedar Park.
All adults 18+ welcome. Walk or run—just get moving!
At 4:15 PM everyone lines up together. That first mile is your official Mile Challenge chip time. Run it, walk it, push a stroller. When you cross the line, your race is complete and your result is on the board.
Then the horn sounds again.
Anyone who wants more stays in the corral. Round 2 goes off on a shorter clock than Round 1. Round 3 is shorter still. Seven rounds, each one tighter than the last, all the way down to a seven minute mile.
Miss the clock or miss the horn and your day is done, with every completed round on your record. There are no DNFs here. Only rounds completed.
| Round | Horn | Clock | Loop Closes |
| Round 1 | 4:15 PM | 13:00 | 4:28 PM |
| Round 2 | 4:28 PM | 12:00 | 4:40 PM |
| Round 3 | 4:40 PM | 11:00 | 4:51 PM |
| Round 4 | 4:51 PM | 10:00 | 5:01 PM |
| Round 5 | 5:01 PM | 9:00 | 5:10 PM |
| Round 6 | 5:10 PM | 8:00 | 5:18 PM |
| Round 7 | 5:18 PM | 7:00 | 5:25 PM |
| FINAL LOOP | 5:30 PM | Scratch start | ~5:40 PM |
Every runner who makes the 5:30 horn goes off together. It does not matter whether you cleared Round 7 with two minutes to spare or crossed with four seconds left. Everyone starts on the same line, at the same second.
Fastest mile takes the week. The rounds behind you buy nothing except the right to be standing there.
If one runner is left: they run the final loop anyway, for the record and for the crowd.
If nobody clears Round 7: the win goes to the fastest Round 6 split among everyone who started Round 7.
The Speedyard runs every Sunday of the series. Week 1 you find out how deep the clock goes. By Championship Sunday you know exactly which round is going to hurt.
| Rounds Completed | Tracked and posted every week |
| Weekly Champion | Fastest final loop that Sunday |
| Season Total | Rounds completed across all five weeks |
| Deepest Round | The furthest anyone got all season |
| Most Improved | Biggest jump from Week 1 to Week 5 |
Both categories are the same race and the same start line. The only difference is what happens after your mile.
|
Mile Challenge
One mile at 4:15 PM. Run it, walk it, push a stroller. No time limit, ever. Chip time, results, and you are done by 4:45 PM.
|
Mile Challenge: Speedyard
Same 4:15 PM start, same first mile, same chip time. Then you stay in the corral for the horn and see how many rounds you can hold.
|
Signing up for the Speedyard does not commit you to anything. You can stop after any round, including the first one. Registering just puts you on the corral roster so we know who to count at each horn.
Not sure yet? Pick the Mile Challenge. You can switch to the Speedyard category any week at check in, free, up until 4:10 PM.
| 3:00 PM | HKRS Cedar Park kids races begin |
| 4:00 PM | Cedar Park Run check in opens |
| 4:15 PM | Mile Challenge start (also Speedyard Round 1) |
| 4:45 PM | Mile Challenge results posted. Head home any time. |
| 4:28 to 5:25 PM | Speedyard Rounds 2 through 7 |
| 5:30 PM | Speedyard final loop |
| 5:45 PM | Weekly awards |
| 6:00 PM | Park clear |
Every Sunday. Register under the Speedyard category and after your mile the horn sounds again on a shorter clock. Seven rounds down to a seven minute mile, then a scratch start final loop at 5:30. Fastest One Standing. Stop after any round.
"MILE DONE BY 4:45 PM" 2. "Done By 5:00 PM / Home for dinner!" in the three column info box -> "Mile Done By 4:45 PM / Speedyard runs to 6:00 PM" 3. Schedule row "3:45 PM Cedar Park Run check-in opens" -> check in now opens at 4:00 PM. Handled in BLOCK 7. 4. Schedule row "~4:45 PM Last finishers cross the line - Head home!" -> replaced entirely by BLOCK 7 above 5. Registration Options card grid (Single Race / Full Series / HKRS Family) currently shows three cards. Either add a fourth Speedyard card or add one line to each existing card reading "Speedyard version available at the same price." DO NOT remove the 4:45 PM promise. It is the reason walkers and HKRS parents sign up. The 6:00 PM close applies only to the Speedyard category. C. OPEN DECISIONS 1. Same price or a small upcharge for Speedyard? Same price is simpler and encourages people to try it. An upcharge covers the extra 75 minutes of timing and volunteer coverage. 2. Does a Speedyard entrant appear in the standard Mile Challenge results as well? Recommend yes: their Round 1 is a legitimate chip timed mile and should rank alongside everyone else's. 3. Day of category switching. Block 6 currently promises free switching up to 4:10 PM at check in, a 10 minute window. Remove that line if your timing setup cannot handle a late bib reassignment inside a 15 minute check in window. -->
